Joseph ZuckerNov 20, 2014

Many fans were confused when Sheamus was removed from the main event of Sunday's Survivor Series on the Nov. 17 edition of Raw. The reasoning behind the decision became clear on Thursday.

WWE announced that the Celtic Warrior suffered an arm stinger in addition to other neck and spinal injuries on Monday. Mark Henry delivered the World's Strongest Slam to Sheamus through a table, which is likely when the problems occurred.

The former world champion took a selfie shortly before undergoing surgery on Thursday:

Grantland's David Shoemaker spoke for every wrestling fan when wishing Sheamus a speedy recovery:

Sheamus has had back luck recently when it comes to injuries. He picked up a torn labrum in his left shoulder in August 2013 and was out until the Royal Rumble in January.

Now, less than a year after his return, Sheamus will likely remain on the shelf once again for the foreseeable future.
