Erik BeastonNov 18, 2014

World Wrestling Entertainment will make its penultimate stop on the road to Survivor Series this Friday night when SmackDown hits the SyFy airwaves.

Ryback has been on a roll entering this Sunday's pay-per-view event but can he sustain the momentum he has built thus far when he teams with Big Show to square off with Kane and Seth Rollins in this week's main event? More importantly, what role did Triple H and The Authority have in his fate?

With former Wyatt Family members Erick Rowan and Luke Harper on opposing teams at Survivor Series, what would they have in store for each other on this week's broadcast? What issues can Rowan possibly have with his former tag partner, with whom no tension was ever teased?

Analysis

For the first time in weeks, SmackDown feels very much like a must-see show based on the results from Tuesday's tapings.

Every match has implications on a pay-per-view bout and the presence of John Cena and Triple H really adds star power to the show that typically is not there.

It appears as though the focus remains on Ryback as the company attempts to rebuild him in the eyes of the fans after a year of jobbing as one-half of RybAxel. Having him at the heart of one of the biggest matches of the year is the perfect way to do it.

Of interest was the tidbit about the growing tension between Miz and stunt double Damien Mizdow. Fans have been touting the brilliance of Mizdow in the role and breaking him away from The Miz after serving as his flunky as long as he has may be exactly what the talented, former Intellectual Savior of WWE needs to rebound and begin a babyface run that could take him to places he had only previously dreamed of.

Or it could spell his demise, kind of like Money in the Bank.

Overall, Friday's broadcast is one that bears watching, especially with so many stars and pay-per-view implications throughout.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev, specifically, could be a dark-horse contender WWE TV match of the week.
