Jonas Gray and Top Week 12 Waiver-Wire Targets for Fantasy Owners' Playoff Push
Raise your hand if you expected Jonas Gray to rush 38 times for 199 yards and four touchdowns against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night.
Now put your hands down, you liars.
There were countless reasons why Gray blindsided everyone on Sunday night. The most rushing yards he had this year was 86 in Week 8 against the Chicago Bears, mostly because he was on the practice squad for the majority of the season. He hadn't scored a touchdown this season. Trying to decipher which player will get touches in the New England backfield is like trying to do a crossword puzzle in a language you don't speak.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Heck, even Gray was a bit surprised by the huge performance.
“I’m one of those guys, I’ll probably get back tonight around 4 a.m. and just lay in bed, look up at the ceiling and just be just astonished at what’s going on,” Gray told Doug Kyed of NESN after the game. “Just writing a great story, man.”
He certainly wrote a great story for any fantasy owners who risked starting him in Week 11, as he scored a whopping 43 fantasy points in standard leagues. And for that reason, he's obviously the top waiver addition for fantasy owners this week. He's only owned in 8.4 percent of ESPN leagues, after all.
But he's not the only player who should be on your radar this week.
Kenny Britt, for one, in Week 11 reincarnated back into the talented wide receiver many people once thought he could become but never did. Britt caught four passes for 128 yards and a touchdown against the Denver Broncos, finishing with 18 fantasy points.
He's not exactly a one-week wonder. Britt registered nine fantasy points in Week 9, and two factors suggest his uptick in production could be sustainable. For one, new starter Shaun Hill is obviously comfortable with Britt, targeting him seven times this week.
Plus, with leading receiver Brian Quick out for the season, there's a void in the passing game that needs to be filled by someone. At this point, Britt seems the most likely candidate.
Is he probably going to be very hit-or-miss and touchdown-reliant down the stretch? Yes. If you are in desperate need of a wideout and play the matchups carefully, can he help you? More than likely.
For folks in deeper leagues streaming quarterbacks—a risky strategy, but Cam Newton owners know what can happen to the best-laid plans—the player you want to target is Josh McCown. Very quietly, McCown has posted back-to-back 19-point performances and now has 17 or more fantasy points in three of his four starts this season.
Plus, he has excellent weapons at wide receiver in Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson, and next week faces a Chicago Bears defense that has given up 23 or more fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in four of their last seven games.
Finally, if it's a tight end you seek, look no further than Coby Fleener. Despite being the No. 12 tight end in fantasy points coming into the week, Fleener is owned in just 26.1 percent of ESPN leagues. Fleener has notched double-digit fantasy points two weeks in a row and has accumulated six or more fantasy points six times this season.
More importantly, however, the two best weapons the Indianapolis Colts have in the red zone, Dwayne Allen and Ahmad Bradshaw, are both dealing with injuries after Sunday night, per Adam Schefter of ESPN:
Touchdowns could be coming Fleener's way in the next few weeks. He's been streaky all year, yes, but the Colts may have no choice but to rely on him for the foreseeable future.
