WWE Raw: Potential Spoilers, Rumors, News and Preview for November 17

Ryan DilbertNov 17, 2014

Filling Survivor Series' holes will be the focus of the Nov. 17 edition of WWE Raw.

The Berglund Center Coliseum in Roanoke, Virginia, plays hosts to the go-home show. Grumpy Cat is set to appear, which is baffling. Ryback figures to feature prominently when he either joins Team Cena or rebuffs everyone involved in the Survivor Series main event.

Monday's Raw needs to fill out the pay-per-view's card as well. The upcoming "Big Four" show has just three official matches at the moment.

After the Superstars wrapped up the recent European tour, how much can we expect them to have left the tank? And what can WWE do to convince folks to sign up for the network and set aside three hours on Sunday for Survivor Series?

Backstage reports, recent happenings on Raw and SmackDown and James Wortman's five-point preview on WWE.com give fans a good idea of what to expect when Raw hits the air at 8 p.m. ET on the USA Network.

News, Potential Spoilers

On a key show that is meant to get fans invested in Survivor Series, WWE is going an odd route. It has invited its strangest "celebrity" since The Muppets invaded the show.

WWE announced that Grumpy Cat will appear on Monday's Raw as a guest star:

The cat is there to promote the Lifetime movie Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever. Most fans will just be hoping that the planned segment will be short.

Not that he was in the ring often lately, but fans can now count on not seeing The Great Khali on Monday's Raw. His time with the company is done for now.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson reports, "We are told by WWE sources that Khali's contract with the company has expired and the company chose not to sign him to a new deal."

That means John Cena will have to find someone else to guard the door if he locks anyone else up in a dressing room. It's also one less member of an already thinned roster. Hopefully this was WWE's way of making room for Sami Zayn's official call-up.

Chris Jericho followed up his appearance on SmackDown working house events for the European tour. PWTorch notes that he wrestled in both Frankfurt and Braunschweig, Germany, for example.

His stay may extend just a bit longer. Fozzy doesn't have a date booked until Nov. 20, which frees up Jericho to stick around for Raw and Tuesday's tapings. With the roster hurt by so many injuries and Randy Orton out making a movie, WWE could certainly use him.

R-Truth's spot may need filling for the night as well. The former tag champ tweeted that he welcomed a baby girl into the world over the weekend:

With no urgent need for his services, he could take a few days off to stay at home with her.

As for who will be in Virginia, Marc Middleton notes for Wrestling Inc that the following Superstars are advertised for Monday's Raw: John Cena, Seth Rollins, Triple H, Kane, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose.

Survivor Series Construction

Survivor Series needs more matches. With less than a week until the pay-per-view, the card has just three clashes on tap.

While some bouts may pop up on the card throughout the week, there should be some additions over the course of Raw.

Goldust and Stardust don't have a clear challenger charging at them. Los Matadores, The Usos and The Miz and Damien Mizdow have all earned victories of late. It looks as if the company is setting up for a multiple-team title match, which Raw could confirm.

Adam Rose has been walloping The Bunny as he continues to take on a darker persona. That's a safe bet for an addition to the card, or at least the pre-show.

Notable roster members without a clear direction or rival heading for the event include Cesaro, Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods and Tyson Kidd.

Undercard Hype

Wyatt attacked Ambrose on Friday's SmackDown. The ambush left Ambrose out cold and Wyatt cradling his limp body. Bet on some payback going down come Monday night.

Wortman hints that Ambrose will lose his mind in the process when he asks in the WWE.com preview, "Will we see The Lunatic Fringe show 'The Man of 1,000 Truths' what it truly means to come unhinged?"

AJ Lee won't be calm and rational either. Last week, Nikki Bella pounced on her post-match. Wortman's preview suggests AJ will have a counterattack ready. He writes, "How will the unpredictable Ms. Lee send a message to Nikki before she puts her butterfly-emblazoned prize on the line at WWE's fall classic?"

This feud has been largely one-sided so far. It wouldn't be surprising if AJ ends the show a victim once more, but she has to strike back eventually.

Final Touches for Marquee Match

In addition to a finalized card, expect Team Cena's and Team Authority's rosters to be completed.

A heavy-handed sign points to Luke Harper being the fifth member of the latter squad. Like a cat bringing a dead mouse to its owner, Harper tossed Dolph Ziggler at The Authority's feet on last week's show.

Perhaps Triple H will put the big man through a final test, but that offering has it looking like Harper will be on Team Authority along with Rusev, Mark Henry, Kane and Seth Rollins.

As for Team Cena's final opening, most fans expect Ryback to fill it. On Friday's SmackDown, The Big Guy made it even clearer that he's not aligning with Triple H and Company when he throttled Kane with a steel chair and stared down the COO.

That points to his joining Team Cena, even after he attacked the former world champ on last week's Raw. With as much attention as WWE has given Ryback in the last two weeks, it's highly unlikely that he won't be involved in this upcoming main event.

Cena may not be able to trust Ryback, but he's going to need his help.

That should be the story heading into Survivor Series, as WWE banks on an ensemble cast to draw fans in for the big event.
