MLBRosterMoves confirmed the transaction:
The center field spot is indeed a bit unsettled in Detroit. Instead of risking the future on an unproven commodity in Travis, it appears the Tigers organization was more comfortable with welcoming Gose, who has parts of three years' MLB experience under his belt.
As was observed by Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press on Wednesday, Baseball America had listed Travis as the Tigers' No. 1 minor league prospect in its latest rankings.
"It's something that's pretty cool to see," said Travis, per Fenech. "But at the same time, it's something that means absolutely nothing."
Fenech notes that Travis converted from second base to center field as a means of accommodating Detroit's personnel. With this move to Toronto, perhaps Travis will return to his natural position in the infield and become the Blue Jays' future at that spot.
Gose has batted just .234 in 202 career big league games, but he has speed and a strong arm that should help the Tigers' outfield from a defensive standpoint.
