Adrian Neville, Hugo Knox and Latest WWE NXT Developmental News

Ryan DilbertNov 12, 2014

Adrian Neville continues to get work beyond the WWE NXT home base. Hugo Knox had his first official day on the job.

Knox made his first in-ring appearance for WWE developmental after signing with the company nearly a year ago. Neville returned home to Newcastle, England, during WWE's ongoing European tour.

Solomon Crowe made a return as well, leaving the injured list and climbing back into the ring. Those men now have one more prospect to compete with—a former European footballer that had Kevin Steen's attention right away.

Solomon Crowe Returns to Action

Solomon Crowe is wrestling once more.

PWInsider.com's Mike Johnson reports that "Crowe returned to the ring over the weekend after breaking his tibia a few months back." As listed on ProFightDB.com, Crowe worked the Nov. 8 NXT live event, defeating Enzo Amore.

Crowe has a lot of catching up to do. During Crowe's recovery, WWE signed Kevin Steen, Finn Balor and Hideo Itami have both debuted and guys like Bull Dempsey have been improving.

He's an experienced indy-circuit vet with more charisma than size. He's still in the process of discovering his WWE identity, having ditched his hacker gimmick before his injury.

Finding that identity is going to be key as he tries to compete with an increasingly loaded NXT roster.

Hugo Knox Makes His Debut

Hugo Knox got his NXT career started in earnest, making his in-ring debut on the Nov. 8 show in Daytona Beach, Florida. ProFightDB.com lists him as having worked a six-man tag match alongside Steve Cutler and Elias Sampson.

Kevin Steen was certainly impressed with what he saw. He tweeted, "Witnessed the @WWENXT debut of @HugoKnoxWWE last night. One of the most entertaining dudes I've met in a long time. So much fun to watch!"

That's high praise coming from a man who has seen the best that Ring of Honor and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla have to offer.

Knox was a goalkeeper for various club teams in England. He left the pitch for the ring last December. Unlike the guys from the indy circuit, fans have little idea of what to expect from Knox.

NXT Moving Nights

SmackDown moving to Thursdays starting in January means a change for NXT as well.

WWE's chief revenue and marketing officer, Michelle Wilson, told Marc Graser of Variety that the "live 'NXT' specials will now move to Wednesday, at 8 p.m."

That's an expected move given that Mondays and Tuesdays are already taken and Wednesday is a better TV day than Friday.

With NXT being immediately available on the WWE Network, the move won't require much adjustment for those who watch the show On Demand after it airs. For those who watch it live, wrestling fans have to decide between Lucha Underground, TNA Impact and NXT.

Live Event Notes

Adrian Neville and Sami Zayn have both been busy during WWE's European tour.

Neville worked both a live event in Newcastle and a SmackDown taping in Liverpool, England. As listed by ProFightDB.com, Neville wrestled on the Nov. 11. taping where he defeated Fandango in a dark match. WWE posted his entrance during the Newcastle house show on Vine.

His hometown crowd gave Neville a loud, hearty welcome.

These opportunities partially came as a result of Neville being English, but more importantly, he earned them since he's among NXT's top stars and is closing in on a main roster spot. He and Sami Zayn have been seeing a lot of the ring outside of NXT as of late.

Zayn wrestled on Main Event for the second straight week; he lost to Tyson Kidd as he did last time around.

Zayn also battled Neville at the Nov. 10 house show in Bournemouth, England, per PWTorch.com

It now feels like a two-man race between Zayn and Neville to see who can get the official call-up first.
