Adrian Peterson Grievance Announced: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction
As Adrian Peterson awaits word from the NFL in his quest to be reinstated, the NFLPA has released a statement confirming his filed grievance.
Here it is in full, courtesy of NFLPA.com:
"The NFLPA has filed an expedited, non-injury grievance to remove Adrian Peterson from the Commissioner's Exempt list based on explicit language in a signed agreement dated September 18, 2014. We asked the NFL to honor the terms of that agreement last week and as of now, they have failed to respond or comply. It is our obligation to protect all players' rights, and we will pursue any and all breaches of any contract between a player and his team or the NFL.

Fox Sports' Mike Garafolo added more details, suggesting a final decision from the league may come within the week:
Peterson's hearing has been scheduled, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio:
"Per a league source, the hearing on Peterson’s non-injury grievance will happen Monday, November 17. Arbitrator Shyam Das will conduct the hearing. Upon its conclusion (and it should be a short hearing), Das will have five days to issue a ruling.
"
It's going to be very interesting to see the NFL's ultimate ruling on Peterson's grievance.
The league issued a statement on Tuesday's news via ESPN's Adam Schefter:
On the one hand, the NFL doesn't want any more negative PR after a disastrous September. It may opt not to count Peterson's nearly two months on the exempt list as "time served" and attempt to hand him a six-game suspension under the new domestic violence policy.
On the other hand, ruling in such a fashion would potentially make it difficult for players in the future to accept a move to the exempt list, as well as cause an uproar in some circles. Head coach Mike Zimmer, via the St. Paul Pioneer Press' Chris Tomasson, recently expressed his support for Peterson:
Either way, this is new territory, and whatever the league ultimately decides will set an important precedent.
With the grievance announced, it seems we won't have to wait long to see what that precedent will be.
