C.J. Anderson's Full Fantasy Scouting Report Following Ronnie Hillman's Injury
For fantasy owners who were savvy enough to pick up Ronnie Hillman on waivers when Montee Ball went down to injury, the last few weeks have been pretty great, as Hillman quickly emerged as a fantasy stud in the Denver Broncos' explosive offense.
But the good times may have come screeching to a halt Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. According to Mike Klis of The Denver Post, "The Broncos will be without Ronnie Hillman for at least two weeks after the starting running back suffered a midfoot sprain in his right foot Sunday, according to an NFL source."
However, John Fox provided a slightly different status update for Hillman, via Andrew Mason of the team's official site:

What's clear is that Hillman is dealing with an issue that puts his status in jeopardy. That may be rough news for Hillman fantasy owners, but the Broncos will certainly keep on ticking. On Sunday alone, C.J. Anderson stepped into the starting role and finished with 163 yards from a scrimmage and a touchdown.
That makes him the absolute top waiver priority this week, right?
Well, not so fast. As Klis reported, Ball is expected to return this week and that means it's certainly possible he could regain the starting gig with Hillman sidelined. At the very least, one would expect Ball and Anderson to split the backfield duties. Of course, after his big day and spectacular touchdown Sunday, Anderson certainly seemed to earn himself more touches going forward.
Anderson should absolutely be picked up in all formats, especially for Hillman owners in leagues where Ball hasn't been dropped. But given the uncertainty of his role with Ball returning to action, it's hard to recommend him as anything more than a shaky flex consideration or emergency start for owners out of better options.
