NFL Schedule Week 10: TV Coverage Map, Start Times and Live Stream Info

Sean ODonnellNov 9, 2014

Week 10 kicked off with a surprising conclusion to a Thursday Night Football contest that saw the Cleveland Browns dismantle division rival Cincinnati Bengals, shifting the hierarchy of the AFC North. Looking ahead at the remaining 12 games on this week's slate, there's a good chance we'll see more of the same.

Sunday's early games feature a pivotal NFC matchup between a San Francisco 49ers team trying to remain in the playoff hunt against a New Orleans Saints team that suddenly looks very dangerous. Sunday night brings a clash between long-time NFC North rivals, the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears. Monday Night Football continues the trend of compelling football when the Carolina Panthers meet the Philadelphia Eagles in a battle between playoff hopefuls.

Game of the Week

Miami Dolphins at Detroit Lions

This may be a bout between an AFC team and an NFC team, but the playoff implications are still astronomical. The Lions currently hold a one-game cushion over the surging Green Bay Packers in the NFC North, so a win is necessary to maintain their standing. The Dolphins are riding a three-game winning streak and one more victory will pull them to within one game of the inactive New England Patriots in the AFC East.

Following Week 9, Ryan Field of Fox Sports 1 knew this game would be huge for both squads:

Both of these teams have plenty of strengths, making this contest a battle of wills.

The Dolphins enter the game with one of the league's strongest secondaries. Miami is ranked second in the NFL against the pass after allowing an average of just 201.1 yards per game to opposing quarterbacks. The team is coming off a brilliant performance against the San Diego Chargers in which it held Philip Rivers to 138 yards, zero touchdowns and three interceptions in a shutout victory.

Miami will have a difficult challenge ahead when they face Matthew Stafford and Co. in Detroit. The Lions signal-caller leads the league's ninth-ranked passing offense, averaging 259.1 yards per game through the air. Impressively enough, that has mostly been without star wide receiver Calvin Johnson in the fold.

This week, not only does Stafford get Johnson back, he also gets pass-catching running back Reggie Bush back in action as well, according to Paula Pasche of The Oakland Press:

Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill has been very solid this season. After head coach Joe Philbin alluded to benching him following a dreadful game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3, the signal-caller has been lights out. He's complemented by a surprising Lamar Miller, who has led Miami's backfield to rank fourth in the league, averaging 137.3 yards per game on the ground.

However, this potent Dolphins attack will now face the NFL's top-ranked defensive unit. The Lions rank No. 1 in total yards allowed, fifth in passing yards allowed, second in rushing yards allowed and first in points allowed. That's the definition of domination.

According to Greg Likens of The Finsiders, Tannehill knows he's in for a true test:

Both of these teams are extremely well rounded on both sides of the ball. Expect to see these squads fighting and scratching their way for every single yard on Sunday, as the battle for field position will be highly important in what figures to be a defensively heavy contest.

The difference-maker in this game will be which quarterback can get it done through the air, as yards on the ground should be difficult to come by. While Miami's Tannehill has been phenomenal of late, the edge here has to go to Stafford with a healthy All-Pro wide receiver at his disposal.

Expect the Lions to come out on top in this one, however, only by a very slim margin.

Prediction: Lions 20, Dolphins 17
