The White Sox Brian Anderson Wants To Be Traded (Update)…

Well, it seems Brian Anderson has gotten his wish. According to the Boston Globe, the White Sox have traded Brian Anderson to the Boston Red Sox for Mark Kotsay.

This is a nothing-for-nothing move by both teams. The Red Sox are hoping Anderson finds himself with a new team and the White Sox get some OF depth and a player who can spell Paul Konerko from time to time.

According to Scott Merkin of MLB.com, via MLBTradeRumors.com, Brian Anderson of the Chicago White Sox would like to be traded. Well good for him. But I am going to make a rule right now, and this can go for an athlete in any sport.

If you stink and everyone else thinks you stink—you can’t ask to be traded.  That’s my rule and I am sticking to it. It’s like the worst sales guy on your team asking for a promotion. It’s a head scratcher.

Here is a quote from Brian Anderson… “I need to play every day and be an everyday big-leaguer,” Anderson said.“I have more to offer. If it’s not with the White Sox, then maybe it really is time for a change.”

Really, Brian? As I recall you had your chance to be an everyday big-leaguer. In 2006, you played 139 games and hit a whopping .225 with a .296 OBP. You clearly proved yourself to me.

You are a .225 lifetime hitter. You don’t hit for power, you don’t drive in runs, and you don’t get on base. What exactly is it that you have to offer?

Anderson might be one of those guys who indeed finds himself with another team. He is still only 27-years-old, so time is on his side. But for right now, if you are a career .225 hitter, you can’t ask for anything.
