WWE NXT Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from November 6, 2014

Erik BeastonNov 6, 2014

Finn Balor made his long-awaited debut on this week's NXT, coming to the aid of his friend and fellow international megastar Hideo Itami in his war with The Ascension!

The alliance between the two and the war they waged on Konnor and Viktor led to a fantastic conclusion to one of the best and most complete episodes of NXT that World Wrestling Entertainment has produced on its revolutionary network to this point.

Elsewhere on the show, Sami Zayn continued his road to redemption with a win over Tyler Breeze in a No. 1 Contender's match. The victory was anything but easy, as the Montreal native withstood an onslaught from a more aggressive and intense Breeze but still managed to catch him with the Helluva Kick to move one step closer to his goal of hoisting the NXT title.

Sasha Banks again proved to be relentless in her quest to become women's champion, unleashing her fierce offense on both Charlotte and Bayley en route to a tag team victory for she and partner Becky Lynch.

With December 11's NXT Takeover: Evolution rapidly approaching and the card finally taking shape, every broadcast involving the future stars of WWE becomes more and more important. Which matches earned the highest grades? Which Superstars are sure to be most buzzed about in the weeks to come?

Take a look for yourself and relive all of the action from the November 6 episode.

No. 1 Contender's Match: Sami Zayn vs. Tyler Breeze

1 of 4

This week's episode of NXT wasted little time in jumping right into matches of importance, as Sami Zayn squared off with Tyler Breeze to determine the undisputed No. 1 contender to Adrian Neville and the brand's championship.

Breeze attempted to halt Zayn's considerable momentum by grounding him, wearing him down with a headlock. In true underdog fashion, Zayn fought his way out of the grasp of Prince Pretty and mounted a comeback.

The top contenders to the NXT Championship traded counters and reversals before Breeze delivered the vicious Supermodel Kick for two. Just when Zayn appeared beaten, he caught his hesitant opponent with an exploder suplex into the corner, then finished him off with the Helluva Kick.

Result

Sami Zayn pinned Tyler Breeze.

Highlights and Quotes

"It's a fact: This man has a very, very difficult time in pressure situations." -Alex Riley on Zayn

"A loss right now would devastate his momentum and, perhaps, his career." -Jason Albert on Zayn

"If I was Sami Zayn, I wouldn't be putting any undue pressure on myself given my track record." -Riley

"He's a choke artist and until he wins the big one, that's all he's going to be." -Riley

Grade

Analysis

Anyone who was expecting Sami Zayn and Tyler Breeze to live up to their previous bout from Takeover I was surely disappointed by the time the referee slapped the mat for the third time. There simply was not enough time for the two Superstars to piece together a classic anywhere near what they accomplished last May.

With that said, they worked an excellent match. It started slowly but picked up tremendously by the end, leading to a series of reversals and counters that told the story of two Superstars who are familiar with each other who knew what to expect.

Zayn fired up late, showing great emotion and intensity, and scored the win, which he absolutely needed to continue his journey to the NXT title.

Dash Wilder vs. Tyson Kidd

2 of 4

Tyson Kidd, somewhat lost in the shuffle following his elimination from the NXT Championship picture, returned to the brand for a singles bout on this week's broadcast. His opponent? Dash Wilder, former tag team partner of Scott Dawson in The Mechanics.

Kidd controlled the majority of the match, but Wilder provided much more competition late in the match than the graduate of the Hart Dungeon likely expected. Still, Kidd was able to fend off his young, hungry opponent and scored a submission victory with the Sharpshooter.

Result

Tyson Kidd defeated Dash Wilder.

Highlights and Quotes

"I guess the story with Tyson Kidd is, what's next?" -Rich Brennan

"He stole the show, but what did that do for him? He has no more title opportunities." -Jason Albert on Kidd

"There's flashes of brilliance from Dash here." -Alex Riley

Analysis

Tyson Kidd remains fresh in the minds of NXT fans courtesy of this week's win, but one cannot help but feel he has no real place with the brand at this point. Where does he go from here? Anything less than a spot in the main event is a major step down for Kidd, who was already demoted from the main roster to the developmental brand.

Despite the career setback, he made the most of his time in NXT, becoming one of the legitimate MVPs of the entire WWE in 2014. He deserves better, even if that means a co-main event angle with a fellow headliner.

As for Dash Wilder, the young star showed flashes of brilliance, as noted by Alex Riley on commentary, but he is a long way from starring as a singles performer, especially with the debut that occurred later in the evening and the logjam of recognizable and celebrated talent further up the card.

For Wilder, his previous team with the underrated Scott Dawson may be his best bet for future success.

Charlotte and Bayley vs. Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks

3 of 4

As the build to a NXT Women's Championship match between Charlotte and Sasha Banks continues, the former BFFs found themselves on opposite sides of the squared circle in this week's Divas tag team main event.

Charlotte and teammate Bayley controlled the match against Banks and Becky Lynch early, isolating Lynch and frustrating Banks to the point that it appeared as though the babyfaces would cruise to victory.

Then, Bayley found herself cut off from her partner and at the mercy of Banks and Lynch, who beat her around the squared circle while the women's champion yelled encouragement from ringside.

Eventually, Charlotte made the hot tag, but she would not be involved in the finish.

Bayley returned to the ring and caught Banks with a roll-up. The devious villainess countered, grabbed a handful of tights and scored the victory for her team.

Result

Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch defeated Charlotte and Bayley when Banks pinned Bayley.

Highlights and Quote

"Becky Lynch is the first to join. Will there be more?" -Jason Albert, teasing more alliances involving Sasha Banks

"There she is—the woman who let down her family and friends at NXT Takeover: Fatal 4-Way." -Alex Riley on Bayley

"Sasha is a marketer's dream." -Riley

"Sasha takes advantage of opportunities where Charlotte makes her opportunities." -Albert

Grade

Analysis

The final match on this week's show was a highly competitive Divas match that featured four immensely talented women proving their abilities with a bit more time than typically allowed.

Bayley was outstanding as the face in peril, eliciting sympathy from the fans in attendance and those watching at home, while Banks continued to establish herself as the nastiest, meanest woman on the roster.

Banks' offense is so furious, so intense and so vicious that it is difficult not to sit back and recognize that she stands head and shoulders above any other woman in WWE in terms of coming across as a legitimately dangerous and unforgiving competitor. She looks like she can (will) hurt you, and her flippant attitude toward everyone else only enhances her overall presentation.

Enter Finn Balor

4 of 4

The Ascension made their way to the ring to cap off the evening's broadcast. Viktor and Konnor each issued final warnings to Hideo Itami, whom they had punished repeatedly in the weeks prior to Thursday's broadcast.

Ever defiant and ready to avenge those beatings that not only affected him but also his friend Funaki, Itami stepped out onto the ramp and stared his rivals down. Then, unknown theme music played and the name "Finn Balor" appeared on the video screen. While fans may not have recognized the name, they certainly knew the face.

The former Prince Devitt stood side by side with Itami before hitting the ring and laying waste to the former tag team champions. Itami and Balor wore out Konnor and Viktor with kicks and double stomps before standing tall to close out the show.

Highlights and Quotes

"Why is Hideo Itami sticking his nose in a place it doesn't belong?" -Alex Riley, apparently forgetting that it was The Ascension who interrupted Itami's debut in the first place

"It better be someone serious if he plans on getting in the ring with The Ascension." -Jason Albert

"NXT Universe, you are in for a treat." -Albert on Balor

"What a debut for Finn Balor in NXT!" -Brennan

Grade

Analysis

There is simply no better way NXT could have debuted Finn Balor than it did Thursday night. Immediately, he was treated like a huge deal thanks to the overall presentation (angle, entrance theme and commentary), and it will help with fan perception of the Irish competitor in the weeks, months and years to come.

He and Itami were relentless in beating down Konnor and Viktor and suddenly, after a year of squash matches and complete dominance by The Ascension, it pays off as the international stars look like world beaters thanks to their treatment of two guys who have steamrolled any and all in their path.

It was simply amazing booking that set up a future match between the two teams and introduces a new star to the brand that has continued to build momentum throughout 2014.
