OVER 9.5 Kansas City/Baltimore:
The Orioles are giving Jason Berken one more chance in their rotation, and we’ll see how that works out for them. Berken (1-8, 6.55) has not had a successful run in his 11 starts in 2009. He’s 0-4 with a 6.84 ERA in his last 5 starts. I say he’s out of the rotation after tonight, but we’ll see. Kansas City counters with righty Brian Bannister (6-7, 3.76). Bannister has donoe a nice job for the Royals this season after a 9-16 campaign in 2008. He began the year in the minors but has no intention of going back any time soon. His big issue is hits allowed, as he’s given up 107 hits in 110 innings. Not a high strikeout guy, so he is definitely hittable. We’re thinking the Orioles will put together a big inning or two and this game will go over the total.

OVER 10 Washington Nationals/Milwaukee Brewers:
Expect more of the same fireworks at Miller Park tonight between the Nats and Brewers. Last night, Nats OF Josh Willingham hit two Grand Slams, becoming the 13th Major Leaguer to do so. Tonight’s pitching matchup looks like it could happen again, a high scoring game that is. Washington sends rookie righty Collin Balester to the mound tonight. Balester has only one start in 2009, and it was pretty bad. He lasted only 3 innings against St Louis last Thursday and allowed 3 runs. He was 3-7 with a 5.51 ERA in 2008. Carlos Villanueva (2-7, 6.18) will make his first start of 2009 after appearing in 43 games as a reliever so far this season. His numbers are downright terrible, 43 innings pitched, 47 hits (not good for a relief pitcher), 31 runs, and 6 home runs allowed. He was fairly effective as a part time starter last year, going 4-7 with a 4.07 ERA. Don’t expect much tonight from either starter and bet the over with confidence.
