Bernard Pierce Confirms Home Recently Broken into but Denies Hostage Rumors
Baltimore Ravens running back Bernard Pierce, 24, suffered a "significant loss" when his home was broken into last month, but he denied ongoing rumors that he was taken hostage, Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun reported Sunday afternoon.
According to the Baltimore County Police Department, Pierce called authorities on Oct. 13 to claim someone had broken into his home while he was at the Ravens' annual Purple Evening event. Wilson was not able to obtain a police report, nor did Pierce indicate what was stolen from his home.
Gossip websites had reported Pierce was taken hostage by the intruders, though he took to Twitter Sunday and dismissed the reports as "false accusations":

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The former Temple star (third-round pick in 2012) has rushed for 198 yards and two touchdowns in 2014. He had only one carry for two yards in Sunday night's 43-23 loss to rival Pittsburgh and has been relegated to third-string duties behind Justin Forsett and rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro.

"It’s not a one-man sport. It’s a team sport," Pierce said last week, per Garrett Downing of the Ravens' official website. "As long as you know that decisions are being made to help out my teammates, then I’m perfectly fine with that."
As Wilson notes, this is the second time Pierce has been robbed in the past two years. Last June, his BMW sport-utility vehicle was stolen while back in Philadelphia. An Ardmore, Pennsylvania, native, Pierce rushed for 3,570 yards and scored 54 total touchdowns in three seasons at Temple.
