Carson Palmer, Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd's Post-Week 9 Fantasy Reaction

Tyler ConwayNov 2, 2014

For the fifth time this season, Carson Palmer threw multiple touchdown passes. The only problem is that none went in the direction of Larry Fitzgerald or Michael Floyd.

Palmer hit John Carlson from seven yards out, Jaron Brown from 11 and Andre Ellington from one in Sunday's 28-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Carlson's touchdown was his first since Nov. 7 of last year, while Brown had a mere three catches in 2014 before Sunday.

As for Fitzgerald and Floyd, the trip to Dallas was another forgettable affair. Fitzgerald led the team with 70 receiving yards but was targeted only six times. Floyd had 36 yards on his four receptions.

Palmer, meanwhile, targeted eight Cardinals pass-catchers, seven of whom had at least two receptions. Taking what the Dallas defense gives him, Palmer did an excellent job of finding value on intermediate throws.

Although he threw interception, Sunday continues a string of strong fantasy days from the veteran. Palmer has had multiple touchdowns in all five of his starts and continues to be an underrated option. He is still available in more than half of ESPN.com leagues, a sign that some are valuing his struggles in recent seasons over 2014 production. Palmer is a must-add in all formats and is probably a QB1 in 12-team leagues as long as he's healthy.

Fitzgerald and Floyd are not that. In fact, they're close to the opposite. Fitzgerald is probably still productive enough to slot into the flex spot, but he's the Steven Jackson of wide receivers. You know there's going to be some production. You also know he'll never win you a week.

Floyd, after starting with two 100-yard games in his first three weeks, has now been wildly unproductive for more than a month. Drop him in most standard formats.
