Wayne Speaks About Recovery
Wednesday, Dec. 10
Kevin Brown of Colts.com provides comments from Wayne, who spoke about his injury:
"
On if there was ever talk following the Cincinnati game to go on injured reserve:“No. Like I said, nothing. N-O. I’m good. If I’m out there playing, I’m alright. I’m not going to be out there putting myself at risk to hinder me in the future. If I’m out there, I feel like I can get the job done with no problems.”
On how you go about treating such an injury:
“You just want to strengthen it. Keep it strong. Ice, stem, things like that. Stuff that you normally do as an athlete. The main thing is you just want to keep it strong."
“The more you rest, from what I found, the weaker it gets. Honestly, right now I have zero pain. As the game goes on and on, you get tackled, you’re hitting the ground, you get taken down, you start to feel it a little bit. But I also feel that in the other triceps. It comes with football.

Wayne Playing With Multiple Injuries
Sunday, Dec. 7
The Indianapolis Colts offense has been operating like a well-oiled machine this season, but it could be in for some trying times with wide receiver Reggie Wayne.
While the six-time Pro Bowler was able to play the entirety of the Colts' 25-24 win over the Browns, after the game, coach Chuck Pagano confirmed that Wayne has been dealing with three separate injuries, according to Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star:
Wayne has been one of the NFL's best receivers for well over a decade, and he continues to be a key part of Indy's success even at the age of 36. With that said, Wayne's health has become a concern for the first time in his career over the past couple of seasons.
After sitting out three games as a rookie in 2001, the former University of Miami standout went an incredible 11 straight years without missing a contest. That streak came to a screeching halt in 2013, however.
Wayne was on pace for his ninth 1,000-yard campaign in 10 seasons, but he suffered a torn ACL, which forced him to miss the Colts' final nine games. He bounced back and was having a solid 2014 campaign as well; however, this isn't his first injury concern of the season.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Wayne missed Indy's Week 8 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers:
He was forced to sit out after hurting his elbow in Week 7, but Wayne was confident that he would be able to bounce back quickly, per Kevin Bowen of Colts.com.
"Regardless of the information I get with my elbow, I can say with a good smile on my face that I'm going to be okay," Wayne said. "I'm going to fight through it. I'm going to continue to push and continue to see the same Reggie you've always seen."
Wayne was even able to keep things light immediately after suffering the injury, according to Keefer:
That ailment did keep him out, unfortunately, although he was able to return to action. Wayne is now banged-up for the second time this season, and one can only assume the Colts will take every precaution necessary to ensure he doesn't get hurt again.
It is quite apparent that T.Y. Hilton has surpassed Wayne as the Colts' No. 1 receiver and Luck's favorite target, but Wayne is still a key player. He is as sure-handed as any wideout in the NFL, and he is the one pass-catcher Luck can trust in any situation.
Wayne's body of work speaks for itself, as he entered elite company during Indianapolis' win over the Bengals, per ESPN Stats & Info:
That accomplishment speaks to the consistency Wayne has displayed over the course of his career. He may not be as fast or explosive as he was several years ago, but he can always be counted on to put forth a top-notch effort.
If Wayne misses any time, even more responsibility will be placed on Hilton. In addition to him, though, the Colts could use more production from veteran Hakeem Nicks, who has struggled to adjust. Also, rookie receiver Donte Moncrief and tight ends Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener will see increased usage.
Indianapolis is certainly capable of having success without Wayne much like it did last year, but it is obvious the Colts are a more well-rounded team when he is in the fold.
