Texas Rangers On Holland, Nolan Ryan On Roy Halladay
Well if you watched or listened to the Texas Rangers vs Kansas City Royals game yesterday one thing to most of us It is painfully clear Derek Holland still needs work on his pitches. His fastball is a good one, but once you get thru the fast ball in his arsenal you realize that basically that’s all there is! If he goes back to the bullpen, I'm not sure he'll be able to work perfecting those pitches. What about working on it in the minors? The reason I say that is we are at a point in the season where we can either make the playoffs or we can blow it. Holland at this point is the only pitcher on the team not pulling his weight in the rotation. Do the Rangers believe they have a chance of making the playoffs or not? That’s the question! So the obvious comes to mind then. Would the Rangers be able to go get a Roy Halladay-type player if it did mean adding several million in payroll?
That question was posed to Nolan Ryan and he said “Well, people are aware of our financial challenges and to take on a person of Roy Halladay's magnitude is not just what you take on for this year, but for next year and have the ability to extend his contract out for several more years. Also, you have to look at what impact it has on your organization if you were to make a trade of that magnitude and what you'd have to give up in return. It would be hard for me to anticipate that happening with us on a player or contract of his magnitude”.
Well Rangers fans what does that tell you, 1st they are not willing to sell off our future, (good for us) 2nd We are up in the air as to how serious they are about winning this year. Maybe this attitude is what’s showing in the play of the Rangers players. They don’t feel the support for this season and don’t feel they can overcome a team like the Angels or Red Sox without the support.

I believe that Nolan Ryan has the greatest intentions for this team, and wants a winner for years to come. Just not sure those winning years include 2009.
