Cliff Lee Throws a Complete Game As the Indians Defeat the Mariners 4-1!

Cliff lee came into today's game with a record of 4-9. He has pitched a lot better than his record shows. Cliff lee has a era of 3.47 and 93 strikeouts coming into tonight's game. He hasn't got a lot of run support though. The Indians are playing better though. Asdrubal Cabrera just returned from the disabled list a couple of weeks ago. He can help the Indians possibly score more runs. On the mound for the Mariners is Garret Olsen. Olson had a record of 3-2 and a era of 4.42 coming into tonight's game.

The Mariners tried to get the first run of the game in the top of the first inning, but Cliff lee wasn't going to give them it. After Lee surrendered a 1-out double by Russel Branyan, he got the next two Seattle batters to ground out. The Indians would make some noise in the bottom of the first inning. Grady Sizemore hit a single to lead-off the inning. Asdrubal Cabrerea hit a RBI double to score Sizemore to give the Indians an early 1-0 lead. Olsen was able to get out of the inning with just one run scored. After Lee pitched a scoreless second inning, the Indians went back to work. With one out in the inning, Ben Francisco got on first base with the help of Russel Branyanmaking a throwing error allowing him to reach first base safely. Jamey Carrol hit a RBI double to bring home Ben Francisco to increase the lead to 2-0. Grady Sizemore would then hit a RBI single to centerfield to score Jamey Carrol and increase the lead 3-0. Olsen got out of the inning by getting Victor Martinez to ground into a double play. Cliff Lee pitched a scoreless 3rd and 4th inning with no trouble. Garret Olsen was replaced by Jakubauskas in the 3rd inning. He got out of the inning and pitched a scoreless 4th inning. The Mariners got on the scoreboard in the top of the 5th inning. Lee tried to get ahead, but Ronny Cedeno took advantage of it, hitting a home run to deep right field. Cliff Lee got out of the inning by getting Ichiro to ground out and Branyan to strikeout. Jakubauskas ran into trouble in the bottom of the 5th inning. After Caberera reached base safely on a error by the pitcher, shin-soo Choo grounded into fielder's choice, Cabrera out at second. Shin-Soo Choo moved to second base on a wild pitch by Jakubauskas. After Jakubauskas walked Travis Hafner, Johnny Peralta hit a RBI single, scoring was Shin-Soo Choo to make the lead 4-1. Mariners were help scoreless in top of the 6th inning by great pitching by Cliff lee. The rest of the relievers that pitched for the Mariners pitched scoreless innings for the rest of the game.  Lee allowed a base hit to start the 7th inning, but got his act together and got out of the inning by striking out one batter and getting the other to ground into a double play.   Cliff lee struck out two more Seattle batters in the top of the 8th inning as he continued to dominate the Mariners.   Lee finished the game throwing a scoreless 9th inning to get the Complete Game(CG) and the win. Lee struck out 6 as he improved to 5-9 this season!
