Reggie Bush, Joique Bell, Golden Tate's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 1
The Detroit Lions offense rolled over the New York Giants on Monday Night Football, resulting in a decisive 35-14 victory. While quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Calvin Johnson accumulated a bevy of fantasy points—as expected—a few of their teammates had some notable performances of their own.
Running backs Reggie Bush and Joique Bell were highly productive—albeit in their own ways—and wide receiver Golden Tate proved he has an important role on Detroit's offense after coming over from Seattle during the offseason.
Here's a quick glance at how they all fared:

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
| Reggie Bush | 9 | 15 | 6 | 49 | 0 |
| Joique Bell | 15 | 51 | 1 | 5 | 1 |
| Golden Tate | 1 | 4 | 6 | 93 | 0 |
Bell took his lumps early in the game. He was expected to be more of a between-the-tackles back but couldn't do much against New York's defensive front. Dave Richard of CBS Sports tweeted his take:
To make matters worse, he had some early ball-security issues. Paula Pasche of The Oakland Press tweeted the incident:
Bell wasn't given much more work until the game was well in hand. Needless to say, he made up for lost time quickly. After a Giants touchdown in the fourth quarter, Bell was instrumental in moving his team down the field, rushing for 27 yards and capping the drive off with a touchdown.
He proved to head coach Jim Caldwell that he can remain unfazed in the face of adversity—something that should go a long way in the future. Receiving a goal-line carry certainly doesn't hurt either.
Bell finished the game with 15 carries for 51 yards—both team highs—and a score. Consider him a solid flex option going forward.
Bush didn't impress on the ground on Monday. He rushed nine times for just 15 yards. However, consider that an aberration due to his home run ability. While Bush didn't produce as a ball-carrier, he reaffirmed his value as a receiver, accumulating six receptions for 49 yards. Whether it's on the ground or through the air, Jon Gruden said what we already know about the running back:
""Reggie Bush is a problem coming out of the backfield" - Jon Gruden #MNF #NYGvsDET
— ESPN Monday Night (@ESPNMondayNight) September 8, 2014"
Bush may not have put up many points on Monday, but his role on this offense is promising for the remainder of the season. Consider him a viable No. 1 fantasy option.
Johnson racked up fantasy points quickly on Monday. By the end of the first quarter, he already caught two touchdown passes, and he finished the game with a whopping 164 receiving yards. That's a great stat line for Tate.
Rest assured, secondaries will be heavily concentrating on containing Johnson going forward—as the Giants finally decided to do in the second half on Monday. Once Johnson is blanketed, Tate becomes a great option for Stafford. He finished the game with six receptions—just one fewer than Johnson—for 93 yards.
The Lions' official Twitter account summed it up perfectly:
Tate may be the best complementary wide receiver Johnson's ever had in Detroit. That was apparent on Monday when Tate began to torch New York once coverage shifted in Johnson's direction. Consider Tate a solid starter whose value will increase significantly by favorable weekly matchups.
