Kelly Johnson.

The lovable lefty.

The streakiest hitter in baseball.

The next Atlanta Brave on the waiver wire?

Kelly Johnson, as we all know, has been on the DL with right wrist tendinitis.

During his absence, the former starter has been spelled extremely effectively by Martin Prado and the hustling Brooks Conrad.

His inability to maintain consistency has rendered him expendable, and a big decision will have to be made when he is eligible to come off the DL on Saturday.

Should the Braves send down the valuable bench asset Conrad and relegate KJ to the pine?

Should they move him back to his former role (hahaha) of starting second baseman?

Or should KJ be the guy in Gwinnett or another city?

Personally, I think KJ may get a five-game "showcase" with the big club to attempt to entice a suitor for a trade.

Sure, his .214 average isn't going to sway that much with a few games, but he's not going to see much action with Prado performing as he is.

His abilities with the stick and glove also don't jive in a role as a pinch hitter/defensive replacement.

As much as I like Kelly, I think that he has been outshone by cheaper players in terms of offense and defense.

His days in Atlanta are nearly (if not, completely) numbered.
