Chris Johnson, Chris Ivory's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 1
The New York Jets offense looked solid against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. As expected, the team featured a committee approach in its backfield, splitting carries between Chris Johnson and Chris Ivory. As a result, both running backs flourished.
Johnson received a team-high 13 carries against the Raiders. He looked sharp, accumulating 68 yards to average 5.2 yards per rush. No stranger to acting as a receiver out of the backfield, he also accumulated five receptions for 23 yards and a score.
Vic Tafur of The San Francisco Chronicle noted Johnson's apparent power near the goal line:

While Johnson is used to being a team's home-run threat out of the backfield, that honor went to Ivory on Sunday. He carried 10 times for 102 yards—an average of 10.2 yards per rush—and a score. His 71-yard touchdown run was the play of the game, and ESPN Stats & Info tweeted its significance:
Quarterback Geno Smith looked better against the Raiders, completing 23 of his 28 attempts for 221 yards and one touchdown. However, he also threw one interception and fumbled twice. Expect the Jets to rely heavily on their running game until Smith can fix his ball-security issues.
Going forward, consider Johnson a solid starter at running back due to his workload on Sunday. Ivory could become a viable flex option if he continues to showcase his big-play ability.
