Austin Davis' Fantasy Outlook After Shaun Hill's Injury in Week 1
Things aren't getting any better for the St. Louis Rams' quarterback situation.
During the preseason, Sam Bradford suffered a season-ending torn ACL, forcing backup Shaun Hill into action. On Sunday, Hill suffered a thigh injury in the team's opener against the Minnesota Vikings and is questionable to return, according to the Rams' official Twitter account:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Second-year player Austin Davis entered the game in relief and looked good, completing three of his first four passes for 43 yards and a passer rating of 109.4. His play led the Rams to their first points of the game—a 56-yard field goal by Greg Zuerlein. This performance could allow Davis to continue signal-calling responsibilities for the Rams—especially considering Hill's poor play early in the contest.
Before Hill left the game, the St. Louis offense sputtered with the 13-year veteran at the helm. Hill completed eight of his 13 passing attempts for 81 yards and an interception for a passer rating of 47.3. This dismal performance led to some speculation that the quarterback was benched.
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports tweeted his take:
Davis finished the game completing 16 of his 23 passing attempts for 192 yards zero touchdowns and one interception for a passer rating of 76.7. Those numbers aren't terrible—they're certainly better than Hill's—but Davis did struggle reading the defense before the snap which resulted in four sacks.
We'll have to wait and see if La Canfora's prediction comes to fruition, and the Rams look for another quarterback during the week. As it stands now, Davis played well enough to warrant another start in Week 2; although, he shouldn't be considered an option for fantasy purposes just yet.
