Cincinnati Reds Roundtable

I would like to call in all of my Cincinnati boys for this Roundtable Discussion.  Illya, Russell, Stephen, both Tylers, Dan, Kevin, Adam, Jake, Chad, Doug, Bryan, Schmitters, Lamar and Matt, all of you, come on in, have a seat.

Our team is standing on a precipice as we speak.  One more wrong move and it could mean the end.   If you look outside our plush office window up there you can see the buzzards circling.  What has happened to bring us to this point of melancholy?

We get Joey Votto back and Jay Bruce still can’t hit, and now to the delight of some, he is on the shelf.  Edwin gets well and instead of calling in an outfielder, the boss brings Rosie back to us.  What’s that spell?

I am with Illya when it comes to a deal for Edwin.  I mean, I feel a trade is imminent, not that I oppose one. Surely a man with so much promise and or youth could bring some decent suitors.  I think Bobby Bonilla just read the Minnie Minoso story and is contemplating a return.

If you are waiting for Double E (my new moniker for Edwin) to materialize into David Wright, you need to have your Cranial Gluteus checked.  Plus, he is in the early stages of Listus Disablio which has affected some great players like Randy Johnson, Nomar Garciaparra, and Scott Rolen just to name a few. 

If you want to find them you can usually look on the DL.

Pitching, what has happened to our starting pitching? We lose Edinson, Arroyo has flashes of brilliance wrapped up in record-breaking run absorption, and the guys wouldn’t give run production to Harang for anything.

Is it just me or is Joey Votto the only person who can hit on this squad?  I know Hanagan has been over .300 for awhile but come on now.  Gomes has hit when he has played.  If he doesn’t get playing time, he may kick someone’s ass (and we all saw how he roughed up Coco Crisp).

I don’t know how the Marlins do it.  They always trade away the best, and keep coming back. It’s like watching the evil twin of the Pirates.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  Anyone, anyone?  Should we make a deal with someone, for someone, tell me, what must we do?

How does this sound?  We see if we can get Freddie Sanchez (he use to play third) for Double E and we throw in 10 season tickets to Kings Island, a month's supply of Gold Star Chili and a DVD of Bronson singing to the "Crafty Left-Hander" on the JTM commercials?
