The Fantasy Baseball Wolf Hunt Vol 3: YOU,The Manager Become The Hunted!
Ah, this is a great time of the year isn’t it? The Home run Derby, the Celebrity Softball Match, the All-Star Game.
SNAP OUT OF IT PEOPLE! This is Fantasy Sports for crying out loud!
Four hours of guys hitting home runs is a waste of time, the celebrity softball match is about the most useless broadcast in entertainment, and don’t even get me started on the All-Star Game thank you very much John Maddon!

Now is the perfect time to be doing research, scouring the waiver wire, updating yourself on injuries and who is coming OFF the DL (that one especially cause most of the update site can’t seem to play catch-up)
And it is also a fine time to fine tune and reevaluate your team and strategy. What is working and what is not? How can you better your performance?
These things take time people and the reason why now it's better than ever is simply due to the fact there isn’t any games being played—you’re already ahead of the “game.”
We spend most of the season doing this research and playing catch-up as games are being played. Any adjustment to a roster gets reflected in time not always immediately so why not be ahead of the curve going into the second half of the season.
Did you know Colby Rasmus is one of the biggest new flair ups in the NL right now and could fill a void in the outfield if you have one?
Do you know how long Nelson Cruz will actually be playing due to a certain someone’s injury?
Did you know that Bradley and Rollins historically start turning things on right about now?
Will Halladay be traded and if so to whom? Will Cueto get his groove back—do you even know what this means?
Now is the time that good managers become better managers and it starts with YOU! There are plenty of moves being made both in Fantasy Leagues as well as the AL and NL. Each one could significantly affect your team’s roster and your team’s performance. So better to be prepared then caught with a hotdog in your mouth, a Shasta in your hand, and replaying Feilder becoming King in St. Louis!
Pay strict attention to anyone who went on the DL about a week ago and where they are currently. There are plenty of players who were initially thought to have minor injuries and but have been downgraded to more severe. Conversely, there are plenty of players out there who are the complete opposite.
Take the time out to also utilize the DL on your roster. For those of you just starting out, you can place a player who is ON the DL, ON the DL which allows you to find another player without having to drop the injured one. You obviously will only have 15 days or so to cash in so choose wisely.
Here are some names to watch out for:
Ben Zobrist
Ryan Franklin
Geovany Soto
Nyjer Morgan
Here are some names to stay away from, sell high, or try to trade:
Joe Mauer
Andrew McCutchen
Adam Kennedy
Aubry Huff
Remember to stay diligent folks, and it will pay off in the end, and in the meantime while the “All-Maddon First Base Team” gets rolling tonight, turn the game down, listen in the background like our forefathers, and do some good old fashioned research. You have eight names to start with and less than 48 hours before play resumes.
Remember: The forest is filled with cute little bunnies, wonderful foliage, and a great collection of pleasantries, but in the shadows the wolves lurk.
