Creature Report: Warning, The Trolls Have United and Taken Over

I  have a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Yesterday I got a link on my profile from Graham Brunnell to check out his newest article. Entitled "While We're in the Bleachers, They Are in the Front Row.....Leroy Watson" 

Graham usually does this and I always check his articles out.

So, I read the article. It is a heartfelt article about Leroy Watson and the good that he does for young writers on B/R. Graham insinuates that this is going to be part of a series where he pays homage to the writers on B/R that he looks up to.

I think this is a fantastic idea. I feel there is so much more to sports writing than just stats and numbers, I have said this before. I think the B/R platform is an awesome opportunity for writers to express their thoughts and feelings on a whole array of subjects not just sports.

I was absolutely shocked to see some of the reactions that Graham got to his article.

One guy trashes Graham and tells him that there is no room for "mushy" writing on the website.

One guy starts talking about emails and sweaty guys and homoerotic crap that Graham's hero supposedly said.

Than another guy starts telling Graham that he shouldn't be wasting his time writing heartfelt articles because he could end up in Iraq or somewhere fighting in a war and.....

What?!

People are more sick and depraved than I thought.

Just the facts ma'am.

A young writer has the guts to step outside the sports-writing box and do something different and he is accosted like a Nazi at a Bar Mitzfah.

If stats and numbers and un-originality is all we are allowed to post, than I quit.

If crucifying a kid for having guts is the mob mentality of B/R, than I quit.

Where is the "Journalistic Integrity " in assaulting someone for voicing their opinions? 

The poor kid was just trying to write a nice profile of writer he looks up to and the Sweaty-Guy, Bullethead Press Police just railroaded him against a wall.

Man.

Somewhere there is a rock turned over from under is where all these slithering bottom feeders came from.
