Why The Mets Will Continue To Score Runs

Nick AdamoJul 12, 2009

The Mets have scored 13 runs in thair last two games. I believe the offensive woes of the Mets are in the rearview mirror and getting farther and farther away. Their lineup has improved and people are starting to get hot.

Let's start with the Lineup. Angel Pagan has come back and that makes a big difference. He is batting .310 with a great OBP of 387. I think he is a good leadoff hitter, but should be swapped with Castillo.

Castillo is more of a walks, singles and infield hits kind of guy with the same OBP; meanwhile a quarter of Pagan's hits are for extra bases.

Then we have Wright who is simply Amazing, Sheffield who has been an absolute God send and now that he says his knees feel great he should do even better, just remember how he did against the AL as a DH resting his legs.

Next Francoeur, who despite being painted as someone with no plate discipline, has had two 2-hit games as a Met. Out of nine at bats the only one where he didnt show pretty good discipline was when he struck out chasing a couple of outside pitches.

Other than that he has been taking pitches and if a pitch is in the strike zone it looks like he effortlessly makes solid contact every time. He hit a hard line drive up the middle and absolutely smoked a double in the gap today.

I know its way to early to say we won the trade, but one thing Francoeur has Church lacks is a strong presence in the lineup.

Other players who look like its starting to click for them: Murphy has been hitting well and he is starting to pull those inside pitches and has been hitting doubles.

Tatis smashed a Home Run today and even though the Apple didnt appreciate it I did. He also just missed a game tying three-run homer against wolf the other day. It looks like he is hitting the ball with authority.

Omir Santos had a three-hit day yesterday but was given a day off which seems to happen alot. Cora had a couple of hits today and I think the All-Star Break will do him a world of good.

Basically what I am saying is be prepared for a better, more productive Mets' offense.
