The Oakland Athletics Week 12 Review.
After 12 weeks of watching the A’s fall short, I am getting to the point where I expect them to lose. This season has been a huge disappointment offensively and defensively. The only bright stop on this team is the pitching.
I am glad to see the A’s win three of the last six games. They are finally scoring runs and hitting the ball hard.
I think Bobby Crosby has been great, not because of his abilities, but he is playing when they need him to. He really got the shaft this winter, when the A’s got Cabrera. He is sucking up his pride and playing for a team that has showed him the door. That is not very easy to do!

The A’s pitching staff is in trouble. I know I said it was the bright spot, but it’s a dim bright spot.
First off, Gio Gonzales, welcome to the Majors! This week he showed me that he can pitch. I am glad because Josh Outman, who he replaced, is out for the season with Tommy John surgery.
Second, these young pitchers are throwing their arms off and most of the time getting nothing from the offense.
Help might be on the way.
I say this because the A’s made a trade this morning for Scott Hairston for two minor league players and a third player to be name later. He is an improvement over anyone else they have, Rajai Davis included.
I think the A’s sent Travis Buck down so he can get more playing time. May be to prepare him in order to take over left when they trade Matt Holliday. That’s what I would do.
They also brought up Dana Eveland to replace Dallas Braden while Braden is on bereavement leave.
The A’s have a lot to do if they are going break .500!
