What Happens after Nadal-Federer Era: Five Young Guys to Look Out For
Once Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are out of the tennis world, who should we look out for to shine.
1. Andy Murray, Scotland. Current ATP ranking: 3. Age: 22
You can't write anything about young tennis without the 22 year old Scot. He beat Nadal in the US open semi-finals and is in contention for a Wimbledon crown. Murray gained the third spot from Novak Djocovic on May 11, 2009.
2. Juan Martin Del Porto, Argentina. Current ATP ranking: 5. Age: 20
Del Potro rose to the top of his game in August 2008. He won four consecutive tournaments (Stuggart, Kitzbenhl, LA, DC) before losing in the quarter-finals of the US Open. He rose to the no. 5 ranking on April 6, 2009.
3. Novak Djocovic, Serbia. Current ATP ranking: 4 Age:22
Since loosing the No. 3 spot to Andy Murray, Djocovic has been going down hill. He's only 22 but his game has been failing to be it's best. In the French he lost a third round stunner to Philip Kohlscreiber and in Halle and a WImbledon lost to 31 year old German, Tommy Haas. Still, he is young and definitely someone to look out for.
4. Sam Querrey, USA. Current ATP ranking: 47. Age: 21
He might be ranked No. 47, but Querrey is no joke. At the 2008 US Open, he forced Nadal to a tough match with his powerful serve and forehand. Don't be surprised to see Querrey near the top of the world soon.
5. Viktor Troicki, Serbia. Current ATP ranking: 31. Age: 23
At Legg Mason, Troicki upset three-time defending champ Andy Roddick in the quarters and ended up losing to Juan Martin Del Potro in the finals. Since then, Troicki has been playing well, and in June achieved a career-high 31 ranking, he's definitely someone to look out for in the future.
Even though some of these people are older than Rafael Nadal, they have less experience and Nadal's career will end before their's because of injury.
