Man with 'Popeye' Arm Has Turned into Champion Arm Wrestler

Kyle NewportJun 17, 2014

Matthias Schlitte has a normal-sized left arm, but his right arm—which is 46 centimeters around his forearmis something out of the ordinary.

When he was 16 years old, he found out that his "Popeye" right arm could be put to good use. He entered an amateur arm-wrestling tournament at a bar back in 2004 and won despite a lack of any previous practice leading up to the event.

After that, the German's arm-wrestling career took off.

Schlitte's enormous right arm has allowed him to travel around the world and make a name for himself as an arm wrestler.

Over the past decade, the 27-year-old has won eight national championships and another 14 at the international level. He has also defeated a specially designed arm-wrestling robot.
