Colorado University Picks Up 2nd QB Commit, $4.75 Million to Fund Scholarships

Stuart WhitehairAnalyst IJune 28, 2009

Greetings, Buff fans, from CU at the Game!

It was anything but a quiet week for the Buff Nation, as the Colorado roster shifted once more.

One name was added to the 2010 recruiting class, while another from the class of ’09 will have to wait to step onto campus as a scholarship Buff.

Read up on quarterback Nick Hirschman, the second quarterback commit (and fourth overall) for next year’s class. Also posted: the destination of 2009 offensive line recruit Shaun Simon, who will grey-shirt this fall.

In other news …

The Josh Smith saga continues, with the number of schools Smith has been granted permission to transfer to doubling to two (we just can’t seem to get away from Rick Neuheisal, can we?). There is a piece at CU at the Game considering the restriction of player movement, which was to be the lead story in a slow week, but the Buffs have not had too many of those lately …

Plus, there are these stories

Colorado receives a record gift of $4.75 million, which will be used in perpetuity to fund scholarships in football, as well as men’s and women’s basketball...BCS Presidents reject the proposal from the Mountain West Conference for an eight-team playoff. The result was not a surprise, but some of the quotes from the committee chairman raised some eyebrows...Nebraska lost another defensive back this week, as a sophomore who saw action in all 13 games as a true freshman became the sixth player in the past year of 2008 to defect...
