Domino's Giving Away Free Pizza After Josh Beckett No-Hitter

Dan CarsonMay 26, 2014

Watching a no-hitter is a rewarding experience in and of itself, but fans are reaping further benefits from the rare act thanks to a free pizza promotion from Domino’s.

The pizza chain will be giving out 20,000 free pies to fans in celebration of Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Josh Beckett, who blanked the Philadelphia Phillies for a 6-0 win on Sunday, per Mark Newman of MLB.com.

In honor of this feat, Domino’s is continuing its #DomiNoNo offer, which will allow the first 20,000 registered MLB.com users to order a free, two-topping medium pizza.

The offer begins 3 p.m. ET on Tuesday, so users will have to log on at that time to redeem their eligibility. To be clear, you don’t have to be a Dodgers fan to get free pizza, although I’m sure it will taste much better if you’re wearing Los Angeles gear and watching replays of Beckett's no-no while eating it.

As for Beckett, the no-hitter and its corresponding promotion might do a bit to wash away the beer and chicken scandal with the Boston Red Sox. He became the butt of all Red Sox jokes in 2012 when it was discovered he, Jon Lester and John Lackey were drinking beer, playing video games and eating chicken in the clubhouse in the midst of the worst September collapse in Major League history.

With that said, Beckett took a big step forward in putting this and his other struggles behind him on Sunday.

It’s hard to rag on a guy for eating chicken wings after he gives you a hitless game and free pizza.
