The Baltimore Orioles went to extra innings against the Cleveland Indians Thursday, but Manny Machado was unable to finish the game. CBS Sports’ Eye on Baseball filled fans in on the details:
Machado actually started the season on the disabled list, although that was because he was still recovering from offseason knee surgery.
Since returning from the DL, Machado is hitting .229 with just a single home run, so if he misses any time it will certainly hamper his ability to improve his numbers with more seasoning.

The Orioles are looking up at the red-hot Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East standings with the New York Yankees right in the mix, so losing their third baseman will certainly not help them in their early season jockeying for playoff positioning.
CBSSports.com's Matt Snyder notes that Jonathan Schoop and Ryan Flaherty will likely both start in the infield if Machado is forced to miss significant time.
