The Brewers reported bad news regarding Braun's status on Friday:
Original Text
Ryan Braun may be headed back to the disabled list after leaving the Milwaukee Brewers game against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday night, per the team's Twitter account:
Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel pointed out it was the same side on which Braun suffered an oblique strain that earned him a trip to the 15-day DL earlier in the month:
Coming into Thursday night, the former MVP was hitting .294 with seven home runs and 19 runs batted in. He's been one of the biggest reasons for the Brewers' hot start.
In order to maintain its 2.5-game lead on the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Central, Milwaukee will need Braun back on the field. Given that this is a recurring problem, you'd expect that another stint on the DL might be in the cards, but if it's only of the 15-day variety, the Brewers won't be hurt too badly.
Anything more than that, and Milwaukee could be in trouble.
