Twitter Reacts as Teddy Bridgewater Is Selected by Vikings in 2014 NFL Draft
It took the entire first round for it to finally happen, but Teddy Bridgewater was selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings with the final pick.
The Vikings had to trade up from the second round with the Seattle Seahawks to select the quarterback, making him the third signal-caller chosen on the opening night.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com points out why the move was a perfect one for Minnesota:

Earlier in the draft, the Vikings also picked up linebacker Anthony Barr with the ninth pick. Minnesota effectively addressed its defense, which was one of the worst in the league last year, and nabbed a potential franchise quarterback.
Both moves make the Vikings improved on both sides of the ball, as Master Tesfatsion of the Star-Tribune points out:
Though Johnny Manziel was the most talked about player coming into the draft, Bridgewater is considered the more NFL-ready quarterback.
He also doesn't have the off-field reputation that Manziel does, as Tony Kornheiser of Pardon the Interruption notes:
Before the draft took place, Bridgewater was in the news for giving his mother a pink Cadillac Escalade. The former Louisville quarterback spoke about his mother on NFL Network, per Sean Jensen of Thrive Sports:
Minnesota is getting a quarterback that, unlike its former signal-callers, is extremely accurate, per ESPN's Numbers Never Lie:
What Bridgewater brings to the Vikings is an NFL-ready approach in the pocket and a cool demeanor—qualities necessary for competing in the NFC North.
Along with offensive weapons like Adrian Peterson and Cordarrelle Patterson, Bridgewater should be set up to succeed right away in Minnesota. The selections of Barr and Bridgewater simply mark the second great draft for the Vikes, per Sports Illustrated:
Whether or not Bridgewater is the starting quarterback on Week 1 for Minnesota is yet to be determined. But with a quarterback lineup that includes Christian Ponder and Matt Cassel, the throne might be ripe for the picking for Bridgewater.
In a division where signal-callers like Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford and Jay Cutler reign supreme, it's time to add Bridgewater to the mix.
