It hardly matters when Eric Ebron gets selected in the 2014 NFL draft, because he will have already enjoyed an amazing, life-altering day. You see, the former North Carolina tight end decided to get engaged on Thursday.

The NFL has a video of the beautiful moment:
End of Update---
The good news leaked out as it does nowadays, on Twitter. Here is how it all went down, thanks to FoxSports.com's Peter Schrager.
Standing atop the Empire State Building with his future wife, hours away from an event that will change his life, Ebron certainly had to feel like he was on top of the world.
The Sporting News offers another vantage point of the proposal.
And good luck wiping this beaming smile off the tight end's face, via Ebron's Instagram feed:
Those familiar with Ebron already know that the football player has been dating a fellow athlete for two years now: North Carolina basketball player Brittany Rountree.
Leaving to New York to enjoy the draft must be an amazing feeling, but to become engaged on the same day offers a rare respite from the usual stress.
No matter what happens the rest of the night, Ebron will remember this day favorably for the rest of his life. If we might be so bold—and we are just going to be, darn it—the draft is mere icing from here on out.
As for football matters, things are looking up in that regard as well.
News and Observer's Andrew Carter had this breakdown of the budding star:
He is projected to be selected early (early to mid-teens), though how high is unclear.
What’s more certain: There’s no shortage of teams interested in Ebron’s size and speed. At 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds, Ebron possesses the prototypical frame of the more athletic tight ends who have helped revolutionize NFL passing offenses. He’s fast, too, and adept at shedding defenders.
At the time, Ebron was asked what it felt like to head to the draft, offering up humor amid the realization that something truly amazing was taking place. Smiling, here is what he had to say via Carter: "I started to think about how good I’m going to look on the stage when I’m walking up there."
Ebron continued, "But no … (I) just couldn’t believe it. It was like, you know, dreams come true."
The 21-year-old is certainly trying to pack as many dreams into a day as he can, getting engaged before getting hitched to an NFL franchise.
The world loves a great story, so we imagine Ebron's sudden romantic interlude will be front and center Thursday night, finding room amid big boards and mock drafts.
The spotlight will shine once again on some amazing athletes. Though it will be hard to outshine that enormous smile emanating from one Eric Ebron.
