The PGA will get their Tiger coverage in no matter what

JoeSportsFanJun 23, 2009

We all realize that the PGA coverage takes a hit (read: no one gives a shit) when Tiger Woods isn’t in contention down the stretch of a major tournament.  Despite the networks best efforts to always make it seem like Tiger is “lurking”, he finished in sixth place in this weekend’s US Open and was playing a desperate and ultimately futile game of catch-up from the opening round.

But, even in the face of disappointment, the editors of PGA.com were determined to make this situation into something befitting a major championship.  A little research about what college football team this Lucas Glover guy follows and boom, you’ve got your headline:

New York Yankees v. Chicago Cubs

Nothing, not even a nobody winning the tournament can stop them from making Tiger the story.  Just takes a savvy headline writer that’s all.

Side note: Listen closely to the first few seconds of this video and you’ll be happy to know that everyone’s favorite golf fan was most definitely in the house at Bethpage Black
