Speed Thrills: Fantasy Baseball SB Options
Just because you’ve slipped behind in the stolen base category doesn’t mean you can’t catch up. Here are some reasonably available SB threats.
Brett Gardner, OF, New York Yankees
If you need SB, Brett is your guy, provided he gets at-bats. Last week, he didn’t even need many of those as he swiped four bases in just seven AB. He hit .429 with a R and two RBI.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
On the year he has 15 SB, a .284 AVG, 27 R, two HR, and 14 RBI. He’s owned in seven percent of Yahoo!, 7.1 percent of ESPN, and 12 percent of CBS leagues.
Until he gets steady AB though, he’s probably only useful in AL-only or five OF leagues.
Chris Dickerson, OF, Cincinnati Reds
Here’s another guy who got it done in just a few AB. He had three SB while hitting .778 (7-for-9) with two runs.
On the year he’s hitting .271 with five SB, 16 R, two HR, and nine RBI. He’s owned in two percent of Yahoo!, 1.7 percent of ESPN, and six percent of CBS leagues.
Nyjer Morgan, OF, Pittsburgh
Nyjer is struggling at the plate, hitting .238 (5-for-21) last week, but he did manage two SB, three R, a HR, and three RBI.
On the year, he’s hitting .263 with 17 SB, 37 R, 1 HR, and 25 RBI. He’s owned in 46 percent of Yahoo!, 38.2 percent of ESPN, and 42 percent of CBS leagues.
Elvis Andrus, SS, Texas Rangers
Elvis swiped a pair of bases last week while hitting .333 (4-for-12) with two runs.
On the year he's hitting .266 with 11 SB, 28 R, three HR, and 12 RBI. He’s owned in 32 percent of Yahoo!, 58.6 percent of ESPN, and 44 percent of CBS leagues.
Scott Podsednik, OF, Chicago White Sox
Yet another appearance by Pods. He stole two more bases last week while hitting .381 (8 for 21) with four R, a HR, and three RBI.
On the year he’s hitting .319 with 10 SBs, 22 R, two HR, and 16 RBI. He’s owned in 48 percent of Yahoo!, 16 percent of ESPN, and 40 percent of CBS leagues.
Ryan Church, OF, New York Mets
Church makes an interesting candidate with Carlos Beltran going down. He should play a more prominent role in the Mets offense. He had two SB last week while hitting .320 (8-for-25) with five runs and four SB.
On the year, he’s hitting .277 with five SB, 19 R, two HR, and 16 RBI. He’s owned in nine percent of Yahoo!, 9.8 percent of ESPN, and 24 percent of CBS leagues.
Dexter Fowler, OF, Colorado Rockies
Dexter had two SB last week while hitting .360 (9-for-25) with four runs and three RBI.
On the year, he’s hitting .267 with 13 SB, 33 R, three HR, and 18 RBI. He’s owned in 22 percent of Yahoo!, 13.6 percent of ESPN, and 34 percent of CBS leagues.
Two SB last week, but proceed at your own risk: Carlos Gomez, Willie Harris, Willy Taveras, Jerry Hairston, Jr.
