UNDER 8.5 Texas/San Francisco:
Good pitching matchup tonight by the bay as Scott Feldman (5-1, 3.70) takes on Randy Johnson (6-5, 4.89) in a battle between two teams fighting for playoff spots in their divisions. Feldman has been a nice surprise for the first place Rangers. He’s really come into his own this year after being on the minors/majors roller coaster the past few seasons. His last three efforts have been great, as he’s gone 18 innings, allowing 5 runs. Look for him to be effective tonight in a pitchers park. Johnson recently won his 300th career game, and the “Big Unit” has done a good job for the Giants thus far. He’s allowed just 7 runs in his last 30 innings pitched. San Fran believes they can make the playoffs, and currently sit a game back in the wild card. Look for a low scroing game tonight in the first of three between these two teams.

OVER 9 Houston/Minnesota:
Roy Oswalt (3-3, 4.37) has been up and down so far in 2009, with an odd trend of pitching well and following that up with a poor start. Last time out, he was brilliant, allowing 1 run in 7 innings at Arizona. The time before that, he allowed 6 runs in 6 innings vs. The Pirates. The trend continues far beyond that, but I won’t bore you with the details. Let’s just say that tonight is set to be a night he gets rocked. Twins righty Kevin Slowey is 9-2, but his last two starts have been so so at best. Last out, he allowed 3 runs in six innings, and before that he allowed 4 runs on 10 hits in just 4 innings pitched. He hasn’t been horrible, but not as good as he was early in the season. We see a 7-4, 6-5 type game tonight, with the game going over.
