WWE WrestleMania 30: Stars Who Disappointed Fans with Poor Showings

Aaron BowerApr 8, 2014

WrestleMania is often referred to as the Showcase of the Immortals. It is a show where only a wrestler's very best will cement his legacyโ€”and only the best performances will see Superstars remembered in a positive fashion.

And in general, there were some individual performances that really did deliver with a solid showing at WrestleMania 30. Obviously, Daniel Bryan falls into that category, but underrated performances such as those from Alberto Del Rio and Triple H also managed to catch the eye.

However, for all of the good performances that were on show, there were some who disappointed with the work they put in at WrestleMania. Whether it is due to the fact that they flattered to deceive or simply did not live up to the hype that was promised, there were some who let the fans down. Let's take a look at those men now.

Kane

The match was way too short to start with, but Kane's performance was disappointing, especially when you consider that he is somewhat of a WrestleMania veteran.

There was precious little in the way of memorable moments from the man who is more used to wearing a suit than demolishing people these days. In fact, it was a performance that almost summed up where he is with the WWE right now.

He is increasingly becoming solely a backstage figure and a man of authority. His wrestling appearances will no doubt dwindle as the weeks and months go on, before he becomes a fully inactive wrestler, perhaps with the odd cameo appearance.

He is normally a pretty solid worker, but this time around, it was all just a bit flat from Kane at WrestleMania XXX.

Rey Mysterio

Taking part in a Battle Royal is normally music to the ears of Rey Mysterio. He is right at home in the chaotic atmosphere that it providesโ€”but this time, something wasn't right.

To be honest, Mysterio is coming into the latter part of his career, and his days with the WWE may well be numbered. If that Battle Royal performance was anything to go by, he may be stuck in the middle of the card for the remainder of his time with the company.

Normally, Mysterio is everywhere in these kinds of matches, taking people out and putting his body on the line like no other man can in such a match. He didn't eliminate a single person this time around.

This could have been a great springboard for Mysterio to have one last push toward the top. Instead, he really did disappoint.

Big E

He is the Intercontinental champion, but Big E is looking like anything but one of WWE's title holders at the moment. His reign as the championโ€”which started off with incredible promiseโ€”has gone stale rather quickly, and he needs a fresh approach.

Like Rey Mysterio, Big E was also in the Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXX. And like Mysterio, he had little or no impact on the match.

He eliminated two men, but they were David Otunga (remember him?) and Justin Gabriel. Hardly high-caliber opponents, you would have to say.

The WWE has to treat the Intercontinental Championship as one of its main projects in the weeks following WrestleMania XXX. Big E could still be a good champion, but something has to change.

Alberto Del Rio, the man who shone brighter than anyone else in the match, would be an ideal opponent.
