WWE WrestleMania 2014 Results: Bray Wyatt and Next Crop of Main Eventers

Chris RolingApr 7, 2014

WWE kicked off a new generation at WrestleMania XXX, with several young stars notching marquee victories that will catapult them to previously unobtainable heights.

Suffice to say, the future of the company looks just fine.

Led by Daniel Bryan—the WWE World Heavyweight Champion—the new era has begun in earnest. The next wave of main event Superstars made themselves known, as their performances on The Grandest Stage of Them All and the trust given them by those in charge show who the next big stars in the company will be.

The Shield

Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose already seem destined for superstardom on an individual level, so their quick dismantling of the New Age Outlaws and Kane suggests bigger things to come.

It's not that The Shield wasn't expected to win. An unnecessary, momentum-killing loss to the veterans would have caused bewilderment around the globe.

But how fast the trio dismantled Kane and Co. speaks volumes as to the force they are currently booked to be. For now, the days of infighting are gone. Rollins' high-flying antics and ability to sell, Ambrose's in-ring persona and style, and Reigns' overall package make for arguably the most dominant group in history.

It also points to sound individual careers once they split. A swift, dominant showing at WrestleMania over trusted veterans shows fans have yet to see the best the Hounds of Justice have to offer.

Cesaro finally got his WrestleMania moment.

In one of the top highlights of the night, Cesaro won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and also paid homage to past legends by bodyslamming Big Show over the top rope.

It's a moment that will go down in history, one that is surely the launch pad for what may turn out to be a Hall of Fame career. Earlier in the night he split with Jack Swagger and will surely use that feud to begin his permanent stay as a singles competitor.

From there, Cesaro has what it takes to climb to the very top.

Bray Wyatt

Wow.

While technically not a "win," Bray Wyatt was perhaps the biggest winner of all when the lights finally dimmed in New Orleans.

Wyatt went toe-to-toe with John Cena and looked every bit of a believable monster. The loss means nothing—literally. His maniacal laughter and clear lack of interest in the end result of the match ensures the loss is a non-factor.

The leader of The Wyatt Family overwhelmed with brute force for much of the contest but paired it with mind games and in-ring characterization fans have not seen for quite some time. Cena sold it all perfectly, and the feud is surely far from over. Wyatt didn't get closure with a pinfall, so his deconstruction of Cena failed for the time being.

Not only did Wyatt stand his ground and tell a convincing story in the ring but his mannerisms and interaction with the crowd were top-notch (remember the crowd singing and dancing in support?), which shows his gimmick is arguably the best in the company at the moment.

On a night when Undertaker may have passed on to other ventures with his first WrestleMania loss, Wyatt emerged as the sport's next big thing. On Sunday, he won the hearts and minds of fans.
