WWE WrestleMania 2014: Highlighting Biggest Moments from Pre-Show
The WWE WrestleMania XXX match card was already fraught with storylines before the event's beginning. However, the new two-hour pre-show added even more intrigue to the events.
The pre-show fight saw the Usos defend their title in the Tag Team Championships against challengers the Real Americans, Los Matadores and Rybaxel. Though the Real Americans came into the bout with the most momentum among the quartet, their defeat had many buzzing about their imminent breakup:
Though little was expected from the pre-show event, all four teams elicited excitement and buzz, showing they deserved the center stage. Besides the Usos, who are always a crowd favorite, the impending split between Cesaro and Swagger should result in an exciting battle, considering their talent and development together:
Los Matadores' gimmicky nature and Rybaxel's poor scheduling put both teams at a disadvantage, though both squads certainly exceeded the low pre-fight expectations. Still, the Usos were the stars of the first event, setting the stage for the main card.
However, the biggest buzz of the pre-show event happened when a brilliant promotion ended up uniting Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the ring at the same time:
Those are arguably the three biggest names in WWE history, effectively serving as a Holy Trinity of wrestling's superstars. Needless to say, WWE fans were thrilled with the uniting of Hogan, Austin and The Rock:
Austin entered the stage after Hogan, teasing the former about his "Silverdome" slip-up (the event is being held at the Superdome). The Rock then came into the ring and demonstrated why he is one of the best talkers in the history of the sport, comparing Hogan to John Cena and Daniel Bryan to the Texas Rattlesnake.
The three then celebrated in the ring with their signature catchphrases as well as a beer bash, which seemed like a fitting conclusion to the celebration:
Consequently, the pre-show events exceeded all modest expectations, setting the tone for the highly anticipated showdown between Daniel Bryan and Triple H. The Usos reaffirmed their position as the class of tag team division, and WWE fans were treated to an exciting flashback of some of WWE's greatest stars.
