Joe's 411: B/R Pro-Wrestling News

Joe Burgett Jun 18, 2009

Welcome to the latest edition of Joe's 411: B/R Pro-Wrestling News. As always, there is a lot to get to. So lets get started.

Donald Trump situation

The whole Donald Trump storyline is getting a lot of press. After RAW Monday, many celebrity bloggers found out about this and of course blogged about it. Many people actually thought it was fact, instead of just a storyline.

First off, to all the idiots out there. Trump did not and could not buy RAW from Vince McMahon. To own RAW, Trump would have to buy into the company and get more shares than Vince, which Vince would never let him do.

If he did, he would obviously own more than just RAW, in fact it would be all of the WWE.

Also, the storyline will not last very long. Trump has to be done with it before early 2010 because of The Apprentice, of which he is a big part of naturally.

He will have to prepare for that show too, such as casting and other things for it. Therefore he would most likely be done before or during November at the latest. Depending on how the crowd reacts, it could be earlier.

Trump will probably do prerecordings like he did Monday on days he can't be there. Since he cannot be there every week, I think we could still see a GM put in place to do Trump's bidding.

Naturally, Trump will be a face owner. McMahon will most likely find a way to pull something over on Trump to get RAW back when Trump has to go.

Promoters still believe that celebs bring ratings, when actually they have no effect usually. Ratings usually stay the same when a celebrity is on a show. TNA's, WCW's, and WWE's ratings have all been the same most of the time.

If they went up, it was barely enough to worry about. Usually they only went up 0.2 or 0.3 at the most.

We will obviously see the commercial-free RAW this week, and Trump is supposed to be on the show. However, there is nothing set for him to be live every week yet.

CM Punk's heel turn

Strangely enough, the WWE is on the fence about CM Punk. They want him to be a face long enough to get the Undertaker back at least, but they are just unsure if they can.

Edge is set to be taking a little time off, so the heel role would be open if they wanted to turn him then.

Hardy will not be the World Heavyweight Champion at The Bash PPV. This is mainly because of the contract issues he is still going through right now. If he signed, we could see a new champion within a few months or so.

All of Punk's title reigns have been around three months or so, so you do the math on when he will lose the title.

The WWE likes Punk and his image, so they do not want to change him to a heel if they don't have to. But they are planning on doing it depending on his reaction at the Bash.

After taking on the super babyface in Jeff Hardy, it would probably be an easy guess that Punk will get booed more than cheered at the PPV. So I don't know why they don't just go ahead and turn him, but oh well.

I see Punk retaining at the PPV because of Hardy's contract issues I mentioned before, but I won't bet against a heel turn for Punk on the SmackDown following the Bash.

As long as the fans go for Hardy, Punk will turn heel if you ask me. I am personally against it, but who am I to stop the WWE? Remember readers, you can't think logically when talking about what the WWE will do.

All Brands on RAW this week

Apparently Monday's SmackDown and ECW tapings have been cancelled, some websites say it is due to a scheduling conflict. They should have some of the ECW/SmackDown superstars on RAW because of the extra commercial free time, which is about 40 minutes.

They may be able to cancel the Superstars taping after RAW, and do a SmackDown taping, but no one knows what they will do yet.

Usually the tapings are on Tuesday, so I don't know why the decided to do it Monday anyway.

In any case the Valpariso, Indiana tapings have been moved to Aug. 30. However, that does not help the weekly broadcast for the shows.

We could see something similar to what happened with RAW during the Denver Debacle when RAW moved to Los Angeles. I don't see them going to LA again, but maybe another city will take them because of the cancellation.

There is no word officially on what happened, as the WWE have not come out and addressed it.

I could see them, if they had to, talking about the SmackDown and ECW cancellations if they do not have a place that will take them. Or if they are unable to have the two shows after RAW.

Dos Caras Jr.'s WWE signing

In a strange story it looks as if one of the best luchadors in Mexico today has signed a 3 year deal with the WWE. The reason I say strange was that this was reported months ago, and then a story off and on for some time after.

The Mexican newspapers have not reported it for a little while, and then when we finally thought it wouldn't come up again, guess what did.

I say take it with a grain of salt, because Caras and others have been telling people about it, yet nothing has happened.

He was offered a deal a little while back, but turned it down because he would have to go to FCW to get American wrestling style training. All he had to do was be there a few months, which meant he would have made his debut by now.

Now reports are saying he will skip FCW and go straight to RAW. I personally see this as a fabricated story because of facts we know about the WWE. Also, he is said to be able to use the Dos Caras Jr. name with him owning it still.

All new superstars, even Gail Kim and Christian had to go down to FCW to get a little bit of training and what not before going up to a main roster, Caras is no different.

I don't see him using the same name because he is more so known by the Hispanic audience, and not the American.

Rey Mysterio and Ultimo Dragon used the same names they have always used because they were in WCW, ECW, and/or other promotions and were already known before the WWE brought them in.

So the American audience, of which is the most important to the WWE, knew them. Therefore they used the names they always did.

Caras, because he is not known as much by the American audience, and just about all of the WWE audience he will probably change his name if he wrestles with them.

Even if he changes a few letters around, it won't be the same. Batista's real last name is Bautista, see what I mean?

Caras may just go by his last name, in Caras. We won't see the Dos in front. There is an easy alternative for him if he changed it. I see it changed either way, that is if he really signed.

Caras left the CMLL promotion a little while back when he was offered a WWE deal, after he turned it down he stayed down in Mexico and wrestled for the AAA promotion and a few other promotions too.

He mentioned another reasoning for turning down the WWE before was the fact that he is a former World Champion down in Mexico, and if he came to the WWE in America he would have to start over.

The WWE, despite how good Caras is, would not put a World Title on him. The ECW Championship may be the best thing he could get. He is bigger than Rey Mysterio and has all the lucha skills he does with more power.

However, if we know anything about Vince McMahon, he likes a certain look for his World Champions. Caras does not fit into that if you ask me.

He is said to be making his way to the WWE as soon as the middle of July. We will have to see if it is really true then, I guess.

Sting's retirement

According to reports, many believe Sting will retire soon. Sting is 50 now, and he has been given a lot of leeway by management. He is friends with Jeff Jarrett, so that is an obvious thing.

He is pretty much guaranteed a top spot in TNA as long as he is there, and he is supposedly making $500,000 a year. Many think Dixie Cater will talk him in to signing an extension at some point, but that is not for sure.

It is being said that Sting will retire at Bound for Glory this year or at some point in 2010.

Sting does not do house shows or overseas tours with TNA. And because TNA tapes 4 iMPACT shows in three days, it gives him plenty of time to spend with his family, so he is fourine working with them.

He does PPV shows too, but because that is once a month he is happy with the schedule he currently has. The toll on his body is just too much, though. He knows he cannot keep going and will have to retire soon.

This should be the year if you ask me. And because TNA has the potential to sign Ken Anderson, (former WWE superstar Ken Kennedy) and even Eddie Fatu (former WWE Superstar Umaga) they will have the starpower to replace him by Bound for Glory.

Also, there is only going to be improvement when he leaves because that will finally give the younger stars a chance to get in the spotlight more, spotlight Sting is stealing if you ask me.

That is all for the 411 today, make sure to come back next time.
