CM Punk's WWE Absence Must Come to an End at WrestleMania 30

Jesse ReedApr 5, 2014

CM Punk's absence on the WWE stage has been keenly felt by his many loyal fans. But thankfully, WrestleMania 30 is the perfect platform for the former champion to make his return to action.

If he waits any longer, those loyal fans might could grow even more restless than they already are for his return, as pointed out by this CM Punk fan page on Twitter:

But thankfully, this isn't some pipe dream.

There's a decent chance he'll show up in a big way when the 30th edition of WrestleMania kicks off on Sunday in New Orleans.Ā

Stone Cold Steve Austin provided his reasoning for predicting this very outcome, via Geno Mrosko of CagesideSeats.com:

"

I'm telling you, I'm going to stick to my prediction that CM Punk is going to make his return at WrestleMania 30 in New Orleans. I made this prediction two months ago here on the show. It's been a long time, I think he's cooled his jets, he's got some rest, and I think it's time to get back to work. I don't see him participating in a match but it would be great to see him in a run-in to establish himself, to entrench himself immediately in a memorable and just a great moment, and I would say plant himself firmly in the middle of an angle, because he would be the angle, by attacking whoever he sees fit to attack or asserting his presence rather, whatever the case may be.

"

Many fans have been underwhelmed by the efforts of WWE's creative team lately, as amusingly illustrated by RybackRAGE (parody account), so there's a real need for stars like Punk to save the day:

The WWE needs Punk right now like flowers need rain and sunshine.

With this upcoming extravaganza being the 30th anniversary of WWE's flagship pay-per-view, there isn't a better time for Punk to make his triumphant return.

While he has been conspicuously and defiantly absent since January, the star hasn't been released from his WWE contract—a fact we learned when the WWE released a statement on the matter, viaĀ F4WOnline.com.

For his part, Punk has been mysteriously quiet about his potential return. His last message on Twitter came way back on January 27, when he thanked his fans for "being you":

Obviously, public support for his return is sky high right now, and there are a couple of likely scenarios that could herald his return at WrestleMania 30.Ā

The upcoming battle between legends Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker would be downright spicy with Punk in the mix as a spoiler. If that's not in the cards, then it would be phenomenal to see him bolster Daniel Bryan's attempt to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

The timing is ripe for Punk to come back into the WWE fold, and there isn't a better venue for the return than WrestleMania 30.Ā

On the other hand, if he doesn't come back, then fans will surely believe there's something serious afoot between the star and the WWE that could jeopardize his long-term future with the company.Ā

Given his immense popularity, such an outcome would be a crying shame.Ā
