WWE WrestleMania 30 Predictions: Last-Minute Projections for Top Matches

Mike ChiariApr 6, 2014

One of the big knocks against WrestleMania XXIX last year was that the majority of the card was predictable, but the same certainly can't be said for WrestleMania XXX.

While it's fairly safe to assume that The Undertaker will beat Brock Lesnar and The Shield will likely prevail over Kane and the New Age Outlaws, a case can be made for either side in essentially every other match.

With that said, here are final predictions for every match on the WrestleMania card, along with a closer look at the biggest bouts that will headline The Show of Shows in New Orleans.

Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H

Few rivalries in recent years have been as personal and entertaining as the one between Daniel Bryan and Triple H. Fans can argue until they're blue in the face whether or not this angle has been planned since SummerSlam, but that fact of the matter is that it has come to fruition, and it has been built to near perfection in recent weeks.

Bryan is favored to come out on top because he is the most popular Superstar in the company right now, but a win is far from guaranteed. In fact, plenty has been done over the past few weeks to make Triple H look like an even bigger threat. The brutal beating of Bryan while handcuffed highlighted Triple H's brutality in an effective manner, and the video featuring many of the stars he has "buried" over the years was a great way to convince Internet fans that he might do the same to Bryan.

Regardless of the result, this promises to be a fantastic match. Bryan is arguably the best in-ring worker in the world right now, and Triple H always manages to rise to the occasion on the big stage. The Game may be 44 years of age, but he looks to be in top-notch condition, as seen in this Twitter photo courtesy of Stephanie McMahon:

The winner of this contest will be inserted into the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match to close the show, but there is no reason for either man to win or lose this match. They are both firmly entrenched in the top storyline, and the creative team should figure out a way to insert both of them into the title match.

Since there are no stipulations for this match, the most logical way to do it would be for Batista and Randy Orton to interfere, resulting in a double disqualification. WrestleMania host Hulk Hogan could then decree that both men will compete for the title, making it a Fatal 4-Way to close the show.

Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Daniel Bryan/Triple H

Provided both Bryan and Triple H qualify for the main event, it will make for one of the most intriguing WrestleMania matches of the past several years. All four men have had issues with each other at some point, and there is also the added angle of Triple H, Orton and Batista having been partners in Evolution.

Perhaps it's a case of reading too much into something, but this WWE Instagram photo from the WrestleMania XXX press conference suggests that a Fatal 4-Way is a very real possibility:

It's also interesting to note that Bryan is essentially on his own while being flanked by the three former Evolution mates. Orton and Batista have seemingly been upset with Triple H because he added the triple threat stipulation, but this feels very much like a ruse.

Triple H's comments during the Orton vs. Batista match on the go-home edition of Raw were very telling, as he implored them to "unleash The Viper" and "unleash The Animal." The comments were puzzling since Triple H may very well have to face them for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. With that in mind, perhaps the ultimate plan is for the three of them to punish Bryan.

It would certainly make sense given that they represent the old guard, while Bryan is a new type of wrestler who is trying to usurp them atop the company. The odds would be very much stacked against Bryan, so he would need some help in order to pull off the victory.

Some might expect CM Punk to come to his rescue, but a more logical and intriguing option would be The Shield. They have been in the business of maintaining justice since their debut, but now that they are a face stable, it would make sense for them to help a guy like Bryan.

Also, The Shield is already feuding with The Authority on a much lower level in the form of Kane. Conventional wisdom suggests that Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins have an issue with The Authority on a higher level as well.

Provided The Shield interferes and helps Bryan win the straps, then it could lead to a fantastic feud between The Shield and the team of Triple H, Orton and Batista. That would provide The Shield with a much-needed boost while putting the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the right man.

There is a reason why The Shield's breakup was put on hold so abruptly, and involvement in a top-of-the-card angle could be that reason.

John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt

John Cena is unquestionably WWE's biggest star of the past decade. He has headlined WrestleMania on several occasions and scored victories over legendary performers such as The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Triple H and many others. Cena always seems to raise his level on wrestling's biggest stage, and his track record certainly makes him a threat to beat Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania XXX.

With that said, there is no question that Wyatt needs this victory far more than Cena does. Cena's legacy has been the main focus of this program, but the fact is that Cena's legacy can't be ruined by a loss at WrestleMania. He already has so many huge wins on his resume that it would be extremely easy for him to bounce back.

Wyatt, on the other hand, only has one signature win to his credit. He beat Bryan at Royal Rumble in impressive fashion, but he needs to build upon that. Wyatt has largely gotten the better of Cena during the build toward WrestleMania through mind games, and he is motivated to reign supreme in New Orleans:

Those who think Wyatt will beat Cena cleanly have delusions of grandeur, but it honestly doesn't matter how he wins the match. It's incredibly likely that Luke Harper and Erick Rowan will play a major role in the contest, and that will ultimately lead to a Wyatt victory.

If Wyatt is going to be the next top heel in WWE, then he needs to win here in order to establish credibility. Nobody will remember the means by which he defeated Cena. People will simply remember that he beat one of the biggest stars in WWE history at WrestleMania.
