The Current State Of WWE Tag Team Wrestling
As of right now, there are three dominant tag team forces.
The Colons (Carlito and Primo) are the Unified Tag Team Champions at this point. They have yet to be defeated in a Title match and are both second-generation wrestlers as well as formidable singles competitors.
Legacy (Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase or "Priceless" as I refer to them) are also generationed. Cody is second generation and Ted is a third generation superstar. They won the Raw Tag Team Titles in their first match as a Tag Team. Now they are 2/3's of Legacy.
The Hart Dynasty (Tyson Kidd and David Hart Smith, along with Natalya) are also generation start. Kidd is not a generational star, but he is as close as it comes as he was the last student of "The Best There Was, The Best There Is, And The Best There Ever Will Be," Bret Hart.
These three teams are going to make for some of the greatest feuds in Tag Team history.
Then there are the two teams that have done nothing of late in this feuding tale.
The World's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin) who are both prodigies of Kurt Angle and have both proven themselves as formidable opponents.
Cryme Tyme (JTG and Shad) is compiled of two street thugs with decent skill in the ring and the ability to be speedy then have a huge big man shut you up.
The only problem is that these two Smackdown brand teams have done nothing at all with the Newly Unified Titles.
I've only seen Benjamin and Haas wrestle as a tag team twice in the past three months and Cryme Tyme only seems to do Internet spots as of late.
The saving grace of this style of wrestling right now are Legacy and The Hart Dynasty. If Legacy wins at The Bash then The Hart Dynasty will be right there waiting for their shot at gold.
This feud would be monumental and prove to the world audience that Tag Team wrestling is not dead just yet.
Hell, maybe this will even revive the enjoyment of being in a Tag Team, or should I even say the enjoyment of watching a Tag Team Title match.
Hopefully, Vince will not do the stupid thing, like he did with the Cruiserweight Division, and get rid of the whole program.
