The Reds, The Team To Beat. And How They Can Do It.

Nicholas RIchJun 17, 2009

When you think of the Cincinnati Reds most people think of either "The Big Red machine days or the losing seasons or even players that were traded who could've helped more. I have lived in Cincinnati my whole life. I am a die hard reds fan. Win or lose their still my Reds. Now there are two things that I hate about sports. Fair-Weather fans or Bandwagon riders. I hate when the Reds are doing good and everyone starts going to the games talking good things and bam they start doing bad and those same people do nothing but trash talking them. Now they have hit their skids since the start of the season but they have been resilient even with all the injuries. We lack a good power hitter but look at the past seasons when we had a good power hitter. I think Power Hitters are just situational. We have players with the potential to be power hitters but they are struggling recently as well. Laynce Nix will be a force to be reconed with once he actually get to play everyday. I say we put Gomes on first till Votta is back and let Ramon and Hannigan go back to switching. The Reds are so dynamic with the players they have they could put them anywhere. Thats one thing people miss. Right now the Reds are tired and need their 1st base star back to give more breathers to others. If you look 9 out of 10 times when they have an off day the Reds win the next Game. I honestly don't think the Reds need a power hitter. Laynce Nix or Jay Bruce will become that and i prefer to keep Jonny on the bench for that bat you will need. I think Edwin and Adam Rosales need to trade off playing third till one of them starts to shine. The Reds are a finely tuned machine theres no reason why people should be upset for them getting back to 500. Their in one of the hardest divisions in the NL and their fighting with all the injuries to their best players. We have a damn good team just running through some tough times. I don;t believe in saying if and whens but with the injuries when Volquez and Votto come back like they will we should be fine. We even have a Great bullpen. I would just rather see Micah Owings in it and Masset as a starter. That way they could put Owings in as a pinch hitter and then put him out as a pitcher. You save a player if the game gets into late innings. I just dont think people understand how awesome this versatile reds team really is. When Allstar break comes thats when the real judging should come.
