It is a event often overlooked when in comes to major sporting events here in America. But that doesn’t mean it can’t make for one hell of a road trip. Here is a quick run down of what to expect if you go to the College World Series.
- Rosenblatt Stadium is located in Omaha, Nebraska.
- Rosenblatt Stadium has hosted every College World Series since 1950. The Blatt was built in 1948 and is currently the largest baseball stadium in the U.S. not affiliated with a major league baseball team, capacity is 23,100.
- This year’s event is being held June 13 – June 24; Current Tournament Bracket.
- Notable College World Series Most Outstanding Players include Pat Burrell, Terry Francona and Dave Winfield.
- There is an old time feel at the Blatt. Expect to hear pipe organ music over the public address, however, there has been a constant effort to improve the overall fan experience. New features have been recently added such as the addition in 2006 of a new video board constructed in the outfield.
- Dimensions of the playing surface are 408ft to dead center field, 335ft down the lines and 375ft in power alley. The aluminum bats players use in college can make for some serious homerun fireworks.
- Tickets will run you $20 -$33 depending on the game for reserved seats and $10 for general admission seats; The Blatt’s Seating Chart.
- When it's not hosting the World Series, Rosenblatt Stadium is home to the Omaha Royals. It is slated to be replaced in 2011 by the new TD Ameritrade Park. The new 24,000 seat ballpark will take over the duties of hosting the College World Series, but will not be the home of the Omaha Royals.
