Big Stretch Ahead For Yanks

The Yankees just finished off a 9 game stretch where they played arguably three of the best teams in baseball. (Rays, Red Sox and Mets.)

After going 3-6 in those games the Yankees now come into a stretch where they could be poised to make another big run like the one they had a few weeks ago.

It starts when the Nationals come to the New Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night, it is hard to say that you expect a team to sweep another professional team but this is as good a chance as you get if you are the Yankees.

After that they begin a 9 game road trip that includes 3 at Florida, Atlanta and the Mets. Both Atlanta and Florida you could see the Yankees taking 2 out of 3 from in each series.

While everyone is concerned about how many games they are behind the Red Sox, the bigger position in my eyes is the wild card. Yes that's right Yankees fans I'm not afraid to concede the division to the hated Red Sox.

As long as the Yankees make the playoffs I feel that they have a chance to win the World Series, and this stretch of games coming up could go a long way. Beating up on teams that are weaker than you, although the Marlins and Braves are hovering around .500 is critical come late September.

With a record of 36-27 the Yankees find themselves in good position at this point in the season. But the fact is if you take out the games against the Red Sox their record is 36-19. This is why the Yankees have been able to survive 8 terrible games against their arch rivals, and that is why in the upcoming 2 weeks they must continue to do what they have done all year...... and beat the teams they should.
