OVER 8.5 LAA/San Fran:
A rematch of the 2002 World Series gets underway tonight in the city by the bay as the Angels visit the Giants. Two former aces will try to recapture some old glory tonight in game 1 of a three game series. The Angels will send John Lackey (1-2, 6.61) to the hill tonight. Lackey has really been awful coming off the DL in May. His last outing was especially offensive, allowing 8 earned runs in just 5 innings of work in a 9-5 loss in Tampa Bay last Wednesday. Granted, the Giants aren’t the best offensive team in Baseball, but they should still be able to get a few off of Lackey. Barry Zito (3-6, 4.09) will get the call for San Francisco, who is 34-28, 7 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West. Zito has been ok, but a shadow of his former Cy Young winning self. He was knocked around in his last start, allowing 4 runs in just 5 innings of work at Arizona on June 10. With these two pitchers on the hill, expect a wild affair tonight in San Francisco.
