Cesaro Face Turn Would See Him Fill the Gap Left by CM Punk in WWE

With WrestleMania XXX just around the corner, we look set for a classic grudge match—with former tag team partners going at it to settle a score.

The Real Americans have been teasing a split for some time now, and it looks like it could come to a head at WrestleMania.

When the dust settles on the show in a few weeks, there will be a raft of departures from a clutch of part-time stars. The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar will certainly be gone—and Hulk Hogan will more than likely be on his way, too.

That is where the departure of CM Punk will really begin to be felt. Up until now, the company have been riding on the typical sea of emotion and star power that you get heading into WrestleMania. When things return to normal, Punk's absence will hit home.

The company will need a new guy to step up and take the role Punk had established—as one of the top guys in the company. There are plenty of candidates to fill the role. Roman Reigns could conceivably jump into the role and make a good go of it. However, there is one man who could pull it off and become a success at the top end of the company.

It is absolutely imperative that if The Real Americans do clash at WrestleMania XXX, Cesaro wins. That is by no means a slur on Jack Swagger—if he returns to singles action, then he could become a good, solid addition to the roster. However, Cesaro has all the momentum, and all of the hype.

If he does fight Swagger, a face turn will be inevitable. It has been teased for a few weeks now, with Cesaro standing up to Swagger's bullying in and out of the ring—and his constant interfering. That would be a great move, as it would allow him to enter a territory that would suit him down to the ground.

Cesaro has several things going for him that would make him a top, top face. The first is his ability to talk, an important tick in the box when you are looking for someone to replace CM Punk. Most top guys need to have the ability to cut a decent promo on someone, and Cesaro can do that with consummate ease.

He can work a crowd like few others in the WWE. When you consider the fact he has been stuck in a relatively average tag team—in terms of their results together—for the past few months, yet he is still over among WWE fans, you know you have a guy with something special.

There is that swing. The swing has almost become his signature maneuver, and it sends the crowd absolutely crazy. In fact, there are few moves in the WWE like it. The buzz in the seconds before he starts to haul his opponent around the ring is electric, and the generic counting that comes with it is crowd interaction at its finest.

When you have a tool like that at your disposal, you have an opening to go right to the top of the tree in the WWE. Fan interaction these days tends to dictate who gets the push and who doesn't—for that, see Daniel Bryan and his growth to the biggest name in the company.

It's not just the swing that Cesaro can produce inside the ring, though. He has the full array of skills to justify himself as a top wrestler, as well as a top character. One of his recent matches with John Cena on Raw is already a contender for match of the year—or at least, it really should be.

The uppercuts, the athletic ability and the sheer skill—it had everything, or perhaps that should read, Cesaro has everything.

In many ways Cesaro is incredibly similar to CM Punk. A great worker, a great talker and an ability to make a crowd go wild. It seems ridiculous that he has never been tested as a face before under the name Cesaro. However, with the hype he has right now, it seems like this could be the perfect time.

Who knows, you could well have another Daniel Bryan on your hands if you play it right. Looking for a guy to replace CM Punk? Then look no further. Cesaro is your man.
