Brian Gay Scores Big at St. Jude: Fantasy Picks for the U.S. Open
Brain Gay played a stellar final round, and with a four-day total of -18 captured the St. Jude Classic in Memphis, Tenn.
This was his second tour victory of the 2009 season, putting him in the same conversation for player of the year consideration, along with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Geoff Ogilvy, who all also have two victories this season.
Next week is a big one, with the U.S. Open being played at Bethpage State Park, The Black Course, in Farmingdale, N.Y.
This my golfing friends, will be the biggest test of nerve and skill this season. All of the best will be here next week, and it will take one of the best golfers in the world to beat a good field on this course.
For this great test my fantasy team will be Tiger Woods as my A player. My B players will be Steve Stricker and Tim Clarke, and my C player is Luke Donald.
On the bench, in case of missed cuts, or poor play will be Geoff Ogilvy, Hunter Mahan, Sean O Hair, and Retief Goosen.
This week I chose consistant players who have not missed very many cuts this season.
Last week, I again had the winner, with Brian Gay coming off my fantasy bench to capture the victory.
I am still moving up in the Yahoo Fantasy Golf rankings, currently in position number 19,253 for the entire season, with 3,184 points. In the spring I am at 19,658th with 1,564 points. This has me in the 89th percentile, and hoping to crack in to the 90th with Tiger in the Open.
The US Open should be a great event this week and I'm looking forward to it!
Have a great week.
I played some golf finally this weekend. I hit two good balls. I stepped on a rake. Henny Youngman.
